Dr Ruchi Arora is working as the Head of Pediatrics and Preventive Dentistry at Darshan Dental College, Udaipur. She is also the Director of PG programmes at the institute.
Ruchi hails from Delhi. She did her schooling at Mother’s International School and completed her BDS at Rohtak Medical College, Haryana. Then she did her PG in Pediatric and Preventive Dentistry from KLE Institute of Dental Sciences, Belgaum.
After completing her PG she came to Udaipur and started working at Darshan Dental College. She has been working at the institute since the time of its inception for the past 23 years.
Talking about challenges in her life, Ruchi shares that right before she took admission to her PG programme, her son was born and for the first six months she continued her education along with taking care of the infant. At that time her parents were also there by her side. After completing her post-graduation, she came to Udaipur to work at Darshan Dental College. She says that working at the college, running her own dental clinic and raising her son all at the same time was a bit of a challenge but she managed her time well and she was able to fulfil all her duties well. Looking back, she says it was the right decision that she made.
Her recreational activities include doing Yoga and physical exercises to keep her agile and fit.
She says that she has been with the college since its inception and she acknowledges the efforts of the administration at the college in building the institute brick by brick.
To aspiring students of Dentistry, she advises that you must work hard and focus on your profession. She adds that you don’t just have to be engrossed in books, rather you should have multifaceted personalities.
Ruchi thinks that dentistry is a vast field and there is a lot to learn in this field. So doing post-graduation after your bachelors helps broaden your horizons in the field.
Ruchi considers her parents as her role models. Her father was a doctor from whom she learnt to be continually updated about the knowledge of her field. And from her mother, she got the willpower and time management skills.
If she could go back in time, then Ruchi would want to relive her childhood, as it was the carefree period of her life and she would just be required to study and enjoy as she says. She would also want to relive her college life.
She believes that both education and experience have their importance in life. She says education equips you with theoretical knowledge and with experience you learn to do things on the ground.
Her life mantra is to work hard and focus on her goals. Besides, she says that nobody’s life is smooth, everybody faces ebbs and flows in their life, but the energy to deal with tough times should come from within.
