HoD- CS and Health Sciences Department head, Dr. Ruby Bhatt is a seasoned educator with 24 years of experience, with more than 25 published research contributions and seven patents. She exudes strong leadership, and a deep commitment to teaching, empathy, integrity, and holistic student development.

Dr. Ruby Bhatt is currently serving as Head of the Department of Computer Science and also Head of the Department of Health and Allied Sciences at Medicaps University, Indore.

She joined this prestigious institute in 2021, just after the second wave of COVID-19. After joining, she was given the opportunity to serve as the Mentor Coordinator and IQAC Coordinator. She has also been an active member of the Examination Committee as well as the Cultural Committee.

Recently, she took on the additional responsibility of heading the Department of Health and Allied Sciences.

Dr. Bhatt shares that the Department of Computer Science at Medicaps University nurtures BCA, MCA and PhD students in Computer Science. Considering the increasing demand for honours degree courses, the university introduced BSc in Computer Science in the 2025 academic session.

Talking about the Department of Health and Allied Sciences, she explains that it caters to the academic and research needs of the healthcare sector. The department runs several four-year degree courses, including BSc in Anesthesia and Operation Theatre Technology, Medical Record Keeping, Laboratory Technology, and Cardiovascular Technology. The department is also performing exceptionally well through its engagement with both rural and urban development healthcare centres.

Dr. Bhatt believes that teaching is the best form of learning. When she completed her post-graduation from the University of Jabalpur, very few computer professionals chose to stay back in India. However, she got an opportunity to deliver expert lectures in one of the departments, and from that point onward, there was no looking back. She became completely immersed in the teaching profession.

This year, she celebrates her 24th year in the field of teaching. Over the years, she has served in many institutions across Central India, including St. Aloysius College, Jabalpur; the University Teaching Department; Rani Durgavati College, Jabalpur; Prestige Institute of Management and Research, Indore; and Choithram College, where she served for 16 years as the head of the institute.

Dr. Ruby Bhatt shares that she had a beautiful childhood. She was born in Sagar, Madhya Pradesh. Her father retired as a Chief Engineer in the Urban Development Department. Due to his transferable job, she completed her schooling across several cities in Madhya Pradesh. She studied in Satna, Katni, Durg, and Bhilai, cities that are now part of Chhattisgarh, giving her exposure to diverse cultures and environments across the state.

Fortunately, she continued her academic journey even after marriage, which was made possible by the unwavering support and encouragement of her visionary husband and her very supportive in-laws.

Today, she is a proud mother of an adorable son who is pursuing his engineering degree. She considers him a teacher as well, as he keeps her updated with the latest trends and technologies. She believes that behind every successful daughter stands supportive and progressive parents along with a caring brother. She fondly recalls her childhood and describes every phase of her life as truly wonderful.

Dr. Ruby shares that she is deeply inspired by her parents. Every day, she learned and absorbed words of wisdom from them. They were modern in their thoughts yet deeply rooted in traditions. They taught her to explore her wings and fly high in the sky, but also reminded her to stay grounded. Both she and her brother were nurtured with these values, and her parents continue to be her lifelong inspiration.

When asked about her favourite quote, she shares: “Zindagi na milegi dobara. Seize this day, my friend. How do you know you’ll be here till 40? Live this day and live it to the best.”

She acknowledges that there were struggles at different phases of her life. During her childhood, because of her father’s transferable job, she often joined schools after the academic session had already begun. Adjusting to new cultures, environments, academic standards, and making new friends was a significant challenge.

Another major struggle came after her marriage, when she moved to Jabalpur from Indore. Jabalpur is often referred to as a “big village,” and she initially felt confused about how and where to restart her academic journey. The most difficult phase was rejoining work after her son’s birth. Watching her son cry every day as she left for work was emotionally overwhelming. As a result, she chose to take a break and joined a smaller college, sacrificing monetary gains. Today, when she looks back, she feels deeply satisfied, as all her struggles have transformed into achievements.

HoD-CS Dr. Ruby Bhatt shares that she has 25 research publications in Scopus and SCI journals and holds seven patents to her credit. One of the most significant milestones of her career was being selected through the Madhya Pradesh State Eligibility Test (MP SET), conducted by the Madhya Pradesh administration. This examination was conducted for the first time in the Computer Science discipline. She secured the fourth position in the unreserved category, which remains a proud achievement for her. Her fulfilling career so far continues to motivate her to move forward.

HoD -Health & Allied Sciences Dr Ruby Bhatt believes that times have changed significantly. Today, good scores and CGPA alone do not matter as much as having a strong skill set. A positive mindset, problem-solving ability, and acceptance of change are essential. She also emphasizes that empathy and integrity should be ingrained in one’s character. Becoming a good human being is more important than merely becoming a successful person. Emotional intelligence, she feels, is equally crucial for building a meaningful career.

She concludes with a message that we should all walk in harmony, speak in a single voice, and cultivate wisdom and positivity. Our mindset should bring happiness to others. After interacting with us, people should feel comfortable and uplifted, not tense. Ultimately, she believes that everyone should strive to be a good human being.
