Work hard and achieve your goal.
Dr. Richa Bansal was born and raised in the Almora district of Uttar Pradesh. Her mother is a gynecologist and her father was a Maths Professor. Her father expired when she was very young, due to lack of medical facilities and that motivated her to pursue a medical career, her mother being a doctor herself was also a factor for her choice. She did her schooling from a boarding school in Dehradun as her town didn’t have many good schools. After completing her schooling, Richa got admission in the Manipal from where she pursued BDS.
Richa got married after she completed her internship. After marriage, she settled in Udaipur with her husband and began her practice by starting their own clinic by the name of ‘Bansal Dental Clinic’. They have been practising in the clinic for about twenty years. Her husband takes care of orthodontics and implants and she deals with root canals and tenures. In their clinic, they have two-three doctors and some interns too.
Richa’s dentistry career has been very fruitful and satisfying for her, however she never imagined that she would become a dentist. She had always dreamt of doing MBBS and becoming a doctor. Nevertheless, she says that after giving it a good thought she came to realise that dentistry is a field in which there are little to no emergencies, which makes it a very feasible field for women. In this field, women can decide their own work hours and also make time for their household duties.
Richa’s husband also being a dentist himself proved to be an added advantage, they were the pioneers with starting the dental clinic in Udaipur. They left no stone unturned in the field of dentistry and gave the best possible treatment to the people of Udaipur. They brought implant surgeries to the city and did the most complex of surgeries. The most fulfilling part for Richa is treating kids. She says that initially no one used to operate kids and relied on medications, but she went to Delhi, did spelisation and various courses and now for the past ten years she is treating kids too. And she says that the smile on the faces of children and their parents just melts her heart.
Richa says that there is a general phobia of dental chairs in the midst of people which leads to them ignoring many crucial dental problems that they might have. She assures everyone that nowadays the process of dental surgeries has become painless, and thus people should not avoid treatment.
Richa regards her mother as her role model. She says that her mother’s hard work inspires her to keep working hard.
Richa thinks that education and skill are very important in life, however if combined with hard work and experience they would give out the best results. She says that she herself also continuously keeps learning about new innovations in her field to keep himself updated.
Richa says that the word ‘women empowerment’ has been hugely fabricated by the media and it is futile. She rather believes in maintaining the balance between both the genders. She says women themselves will have to work hard and then the others will help or support them.
