Whether you choose something or you are chosen for something, you should always do your best in that.

Dr Ravikiran is the Director of Undergraduate Studies at Darshan Dental College, Udaipur. He is also the Head of the Department of Periodontics and Implantology and also the In-charge of the Implant section at the institute.
Ravikiran’s father was a District Judge in the state of Karnataka, and owing to his father’s transferable post, Ravi stayed and studied in different parts of the state. But during his post graduation, his family settled in Bangalore.
Ravikiran did his BDS and MDS from Vokkaligara Sangha Dental College and Hospital, Bangalore. After completing his masters he worked at Oxford Dental College for about two years. Thereafter in 2009, he shifted to Udaipur to work at Darshan Dental College and has been working at the institute ever since.
Ravikiran shares that his parents wanted him to become a doctor and his mother asked him to choose Dentistry. After completing high school, he appeared in medical entrance examinations and after qualifying them, he chose to pursue BDS.
Talking about his shortcomings, he says that he would lose his temper easily and would be reactive and owing to that he lost some friends and opportunities. But later upon realising it, he worked on his short temper and hence overcame it. He also adds that focusing on positive aspects of things and focusing only on what you can control and change will help you be calm in life.
Ravikiran advises dental professionals that Dentistry is a service providing field so serving people should be your first priority and making money should be its by-product. And if you do good to others then good will come to you as well.
Ravikiran considers his father as his role model, who was a judge and always went out of his way to help people. He also learnt from his father that things that come easy to you, are often short-lived and things that you earn with your hard work remain forever.
In his free time, he likes to read books and go to the gym. He likes keeping himself busy by indulging in some or the other activity of his interest.
He says that whenever we have multitudes of problems, we should prioritise solving them as all of them can’t be tackled at the same time. You should be patient, calm and focused to deal with your problems.
If he could go back in time then he would want to relive the important moments such as when he was doing an internship during his BDS and the friends that he made during that time. And he would not want to change anything going back in time as he thinks that changing something in the past would inevitably change his present.
