Dr Ratna Sisodiya is an optimistic and empowered Law teacher, who has imbibed a sense of self-identity and ambition from her mother and passes on the same energy to other girls.

Dr Ratna belongs to Udaipur to a family comprising her parents, brother, and grandmother. She did her schooling at Kendriya Vidyalaya and Law graduation and post-graduation from MohanLal Sukhadia University. Then, she completed her doctoral degree from Bhupal Nobles University in Narcotics, Drugs, & Psychotropic Substances Act.

She commenced her career by teaching as a guest faculty in various institutes like MLSU, B.N. University, Pacific University, and Vidyapeeth University. She taught as well as did her doctoral research. Though it was hard to land a job as a research scholar, somehow she did it and also gained ample experience. She has been a regular faculty member for the last three years.

Dr Ratna feels immensely blessed to be born to parents and grandparents who were super supportive of her ambitions and are excited about her achievements more than she is. Although, she feels that she didn’t get proper career counselling at the start of her career for understanding and choosing the right goals. However, she is grateful for having supportive and wise seniors, teachers, and mentors who guided her and helped her realise her passion for teaching. Today, she is happy and satisfied to be a teacher.

Ratna feels the family plays a crucial role in building the career and life of a child. Rather than their desires, a child needs family support and encouragement to understand their vision and mission in life. She recommends all families support both their girls and boys equally and in all phases of their life.

Ratna says Covid was a difficult time for everyone. People lost their jobs, and many were homeless. But Dr Ratna and her husband both were working and were able to manage their finances well. These testing times made her realise that if women also contribute financially, their families can survive adverse situations in life.

All her achievements are a result of the support, love, and trust of her parents and husband, as she happily believes. Moreover, for going and presenting her research paper in China, her parents were more supportive and excited than her. They were proud and happy to be part of her dreams. Also, she is launching a book for which her parents are waiting enthusiastically. “The more positive they feel about me, the more zealous I get to do better”, she exclaims.

Dr Ratna’s grandmother and mother are her role models. Their simplicity, strength, resilience, and patience are the principles she admires. She is grateful for their upbringing and imbibes strength from their auras. Furthermore, her husband’s optimism is her motivation. Seeing him doing the most trivial things with so much joy and positivity is what keeps her doing more and better. He is her strength.

Having a thorough knowledge and awareness of the latest national and international acts and laws is her advice to all the Law candidates. Plus, she encourages all the upcoming teachers with her personal experiences and says, “Teaching is a positive job. One gets to be around young minds, young people, and young ideas.”

When free, she cooks, invests in art and craft activities and spends time studying and updating her knowledge.

Her sole message to society is to stop gender discrimination as every child is born with a set of rights, and everyone needs to respect their dignity and choices.
