Rashmi has achieved her dreams by maintaining a work-life balance and believes that she took the right decisions at the right stages of her life that led her to become the person that she is today.

Dr. Rashmi Saxena is an Associate Professor of Zoology serving at Government College, Kherwara. She has experience spanning more than three decades.

Rashmi was born and brought up in Raipur. Her father was a professor of Zoology, while her mother was a writer who occasionally wrote for "Kadambini''. Growing up, she was highly influenced by her father, who inspired several of his students, like herself, to do great things in life. She always looked up to her mother to achieve work-life balance and considers her family her biggest strength.

Sharing her experiences in the times of COVID, Rashmi says that the outbreak of the worldwide pandemic brought her closer to her family than ever. Despite the regulation of the online medium, she tried her best to impart quality education to students, overcoming communication barriers, resource deficiencies, and other problems faced by both the students and herself. She even organized extracurricular activities online, which were highly appreciated by her peers as well as students.

Rashmi emphasizes the importance of imbibing good communication skills, an optimistic attitude, and easy teaching techniques to be a good teacher. She doesn’t support campus politics and recommends fellow professors not be myopic in their views and envision the greater good of students.

As a woman, Rashmi is a feminist and believes that women are competent for both personal and professional life. She firmly believes that a teacher should keep the priorities and benefits of the students above selfish corporate needs.

When asked about her role models, Rashmi says that her mother is her biggest inspiration, and she has learned a lot from her father. Both of her parents have been guiding lights throughout her life. And after her marriage, her husband has been her support and has taught her to be optimistic about life.

Looking back on her life, Rashmi exclaims that she has no regrets other than the fact that she wanted to learn music. She even left her government job to take care of her family. After nine years, she secured her government job again but never regretted it. However, in those years when she was not working, she utilized her time and completed the postdoctoral course from UGC. Nevertheless, she wishes to learn music again.

In her spare time, Rashmi likes to listen to music. She does embroidery and likes to cook whenever she gets some time out of her schedule.

Rashmi’s life mantra is that "Your work should be your worship".
