An Assistant Professor with over 12 years of experience, Dr. Rashi Garg is an icon of perseverance and academic excellence. Overcoming personal challenges, she earned her PhD and has since established herself as a dedicated educator and mentor.

With a commendable 12-year journey in the education sector behind her, Dr. Rashi Garg works as an Assistant Professor of Commerce at the Institute of Management Studies, Noida.

Dr. Rashi’s professional journey began with a teaching role at a girls’ college, where she diligently saved funds for her PhD. After completing her doctorate, she ventured into Delhi NCR for teaching opportunities. Dr. Rashi embraced every small opportunity, which later paved the way for her to secure prominent positions in her career. She worked for a mere ₹8,000 per month for six years, frequently appearing for interviews to gain valuable experience and knowledge. Despite coming from a male-dominated community, she persevered and actively supported her daughter's education, advocating the importance of educating girls.

Dr. Rashi says her childhood was marked by challenges, as her father passed away when she was just six years old. Raised by her maternal uncle in an environment devoid of academic encouragement, she often felt isolated, which led her to become introverted. Despite these hardships, Dr. Rashi displayed intelligence and maturity from an early age.

However, as a teenager, she faced intense competition among her peers and cousins, which, coupled with societal pressures, pushed her into depression. Though Dr. Rashi had Physics, Chemistry and Biology as her subjects in 12th, she had to switch her stream and graduate in commerce due to ongoing circumstances. Coming from a conservative family, Dr. Rashi was married off at the age of 19 and conceived within the first year of her marriage.

However, marriage could not deter Dr. Rashi's quest for education. Encouraged by her uncle, she pursued an MCom degree, even navigating the constraints put up by her conservative family by concealing her efforts to appear for examinations. Despite initial setbacks, such as her PhD application being rejected, her uncle motivated her to explore alternative paths, leading her to complete an MA in Economics.

Reflecting on her journey, Dr. Rashi encourages everyone to take the first step and persist in their efforts, no matter how modest the beginning. She gives her own example when, through persistence and numerous interviews, she secured a position as an Assistant Professor at IMS, marking a turning point in her career. Today Dr. Rashi manages both her personal and professional life beautifully.

Looking back, Dr. Rashi shares that most of her life decisions were made by others, which shaped her unique path. Yet, she sees no mistakes in her journey. Her most significant achievement, she says, is her transformation into a confident woman. From someone who lacked self-assurance, she has grown into a person who leads with loyalty and honesty.

Dr. Rashi's advice to the youth is profound: “Never set rigid conditions; instead, accept reality, go with the flow, and pursue your passion.” Her life mantra encapsulates her philosophy: “Take decisions based on your circumstances and available resources.”

For Dr. Rashi, being a good teacher goes beyond possessing knowledge. She emphasizes the importance of teaching and research skills and cautions against judging students’ potential solely based on their grades, as it may create a negative learning environment. To unwind, she treasures her "me time," indulging in fantasy novels and SRK songs, which bring her joy and relaxation.

Dr. Rashi Garg’s inspiring journey is a testament to her unwavering dedication to personal and professional growth, proving that resilience and determination can turn life’s challenges into stepping stones for success. Despite growing up in a patriarchal society, Dr. Rashi persevered, seized every opportunity—big or small—and carved out a unique identity for herself.
