Dr. Rajendra Singh Shaktawat is working as a Dean, Student Welfare at B.N. College Udaipur.
Rajendra is also an Assistant Dean of the Commerce Department, Anti-Ragging Convenor, and sports board chairman.
Rajendra did his schooling from Alok Senior Secondary School, Udaipur. After that, he took admission in Mohanlal Sukhadia University. Here, he did research on Labor Acts and Labor Relations. He had an interest in sports and has played university and state-level Handball.
Rajendra says that he was also active as a student leader and in 1995 became student president in the Faculty of Commerce and Management where he did his M.Com. Rajendra says that it was under the guidance of Prof. D. S. Chundawat that he understood the importance of education and knowledge even in the field of politics.
In 1998, he enrolled in Ph.D. and started his research in 1999 on the impact of marble business on tribal regions. He completed his doctorate in 2002. Rajendra shares that simultaneously he enrolled as a guest faculty in B.N. College which marked the beginning of his career in the field of education.
Talking about his roots and early life, Rajendra says that he hails from a rural agrarian background. His father shifted to Udaipur for better prospects for his children and started working in Hindustan Zinc. It was through his inspiration that Rajendra also ventured into the hotel business and started The Jagat Hotel in 2021.
Sharing about his role models, Rajendra says that he has two inspirations in life: his father and Swami Vivekananda. He says that Swami Vivekananda’s words: “Arise, awake, and stop not till the goal is reached”, are the biggest inspiration in his life.
Rajendra opines that for success in life, education, experience, and destiny should align with one another at the right time.
Talking about his leadership skills, Rajendra says he feels that he had it in him from his college days when he was president of the students union. He has also served as president of his community for many years. He was also the city president of Mewar Kshatriya Mahasabha.
Rajendra advises youngsters to have undeterred confidence, leadership, and complete absence of ego to succeed in life.
