Dr. Radhika Sharma is an Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Biotechnology and Microbiology at IIS (deemed to be a university) in Jaipur. She is also the Director of the International Cell at the university.
Radhika has been associated with the institution for the last seventeen years. Before joining IIS, she served as a lecturer at Kanoria College for two years. Radhika was born and brought up in Jaipur.
Recalling her childhood, Radhika shares that she was a confused, naughty, happy-go-lucky, and pampered kid. She spent her early days in a joint family and remembers her pet dog, with whom she shared many happy moments. Radhika belongs to a learned family where her father was a doctor, her mother was a professor, and her grandfather was an IAS. So, she was expected to carry forward the legacy, but Radhika desired to live life happily and not dedicate the majority of her time to work.
Radhika studied at Sophia School. One fine day, she came across a subject called Industrial Microbiology, and her mother encouraged her to join the course. So, she enrolled in a BSc course in the subject at Maharani College and fell in love with microbiology. Having found her true calling, Radhika went ahead to do her MSc in Biotechnology. She later decided to make her career in education and research and successfully pursued her PhD in Toxicology from Rajasthan University. Thereafter, Radhika qualified for the UGC NET and got a job as an Assistant Professor.
Speaking of her achievements, Radhika shares that she had been a meritorious student both in studies and co-curricular activities. She feels proud to have cleared the NET exam and subsequently completed her PhD. Having a great command over language is also something she is proud of. She conducts many events and is a master of ceremonies owing to her voice quality and communication skills. In the event of any crisis, Radhika says she makes important family decisions and feels happy that her family trusts her for her opinions.
When asked about her mistakes, Radhika laments not spending much time with her grandmother, who suffered from Alzheimer's disease and eventually left the world. Thereafter, she made sure to spend more time with the elderly members of her family.
Talking about her role models, Radhika says she draws inspiration from her father, who made her strong and taught her to live a fearless life while facing challenges that come her way. The greatest quality Radhika has imbibed from her father is the art of being happy and grateful in life.
Her life mantra is to always be happy and never waste any moment in sadness. Radhika also believes in keeping people around her happy and positive.
