Hasheeba Qureshi is a Physiotherapist.
Born and raised in Jodhpur, Hasheeba has been residing in Jaipur for the past 7-8 years. She has done her schooling from St. Patrick’s Vidya Bhawan. Later, she pursued her Bachelors in Physiotherapy at Mahatma Gandhi University of Medical Science & Technology, followed by an internship at the same institution. Then, she did her Masters in Orthopaedics.
When she topped her twelfth standard, Hasheeba’s family advised her to go for a career in the Administrative Services and prepare for the CSE. However, she had always wanted to become a doctor and thus appeared for the NEET exam. Unfortunately, she couldn’t clear the exam despite appearing twice in it. But she was determined to make a career in the medical field and so she chose the Physiotherapy branch instead.
Hasheeba plans to make her career in the public health sector and make medical care affordable for all. Currently, she is associated with some public health awareness projects. She particularly likes the fact that as a physiotherapist she gets to heal people and receive their blessings.
Coming from a conservative background, it was not very easy for Hasheeba to go to another city to study or work. But, she says that her grandmother's firm support was instrumental in her feat. She further adds that her grandmother's fighting spirit, achievements, progressive thinking, and compassion for all inspires her. Thus Hasheeba says that her grandmother is her model.
Sharing her thoughts on the COVID pandemic, Hasheeba says that it was a period that took us on an intellectual and emotional ride. She further says that this pandemic also made us realise the urgently needed reforms in our medical system. On a personal level, she says, it made her understand the value of life and relationships. She also developed a new hobby of candle making during the lockdown.
Advising the upcoming generation, Hasheeba says that believe in yourselves and the sky will be your limit. She especially advises the girls to free themselves from social restrictions and give wings to their dreams.
Speaking of her achievements, Hasheeba says that during her internship, she was a part of AIESEC - an international organisation run by and for students. She says that it gave her ample opportunities to work with various medical dignitaries, organise international events, and even help students get internships abroad. She is also serving as the Senior Vice-President, Jaipur district of the Human Right Security Organisation of India. In her upcoming term, she plans to work with the government and the HRSO, India to decrease the infant and maternal mortality rate, and economically empower women by giving them proper income sources.
Haseeba is an avid traveller and whenever she gets time, she likes going on trips and interacting with the locals. On some of her trips, she has met some inspirational people as well. Along with that, she likes spending time with her friends.
Given a chance to go back to her past in a time machine and change something about it, Hasheeba would like to pass the opportunity and keep her journey as it is. She says that she is very content with her decisions in life.
When asked about her leadership style, Hasheeba says that although she was not a born leader, she learned it after volunteering at AIESEC. She says that she prefers leading by example. She urges everyone to inculcate the quality of leadership in their character.
On a final note, she urges everyone, especially women, to take care of their musculoskeletal systems by maintaining proper posture.
