A meritorious student who failed to clear the medical entrance exam, Priyanka didn’t back down and became a homoeopathic doctor and a professor in the same field.

Dr. Priyanka Kothari is a Homoeopathic Doctor and an Associate Professor.

Originally from MP,  Priyanka is settled in Udaipur. Recalling her childhood, she says that she grew up in a joint family residing in a small town in MP. She says that growing up in a joint family instilled qualities of unity, equality, responsibility, and of acceptance in her that she still carries with her. She says that her parents encouraged her to develop an all round personality. She further adds that growing up in a house filled with her cousins and loving elders made her  a lively person.

Priyanka did her primary education from the Saraswati Vidya Mandir in her hometown, and then attended high school at Vidya Niketan, Indore. She had been a national level badminton player during her school time. Throughout her school life, Priyanka had been a topper and wanted to become a doctor, however, she couldn’t clear the PMT entrance exam. She and her family were quite disheartened by the result, but she was determined to be a doctor and thus she joined the Government Homoeopathic Medical College in Bhopal to pursue her degree in homoeopathy.

Priyanka started her practice right after completing her internship as she was very excited and happy to become a doctor. Later, she got married in Udaipur. She eventually joined the Department of Forensics at a college in 2010. She had also been serving in the Out-Patieint-Department at the Agrawal Dharmshala from 2010 to 2019. Eventually, the OPD was wound up there and so the Vice-Chancellor of her university helped her open an OPD in the University which is still running. Priyanka says that it is delightful to help people with free-treatment through the OPD and make them aware about the benefits of Homoeopathy and running a free-of-cost OPD has been a great tool for this.

Priyanka considers her mother as her role model, who has been a strong figure and a guide in her life. She says that her mother had developed a positive attitude in her which has helped her in every front of her life. She is also grateful to her husband, her mother-in-law and father-in-law, who have always supported her, kept faith in her, and never restricted her.

Drawing a comparison between education and experience, Priyanka says that an investment in knowledge gives the best interest so education is very important in life. She further says that everyone should study not just to score marks but to gain knowledge and develop skills which would eventually transform into experience.

When asked about her success mantra, Priyanka says that it is perseverance and the value of humanity. She says that her success is attributed to her compassion for her patients.

Speaking on her leadership style, Priyanka says that it was an innate quality in her which has been further developed by her life experiences.

Priyanka is grateful for both of her careers. She says that as a professor, she tries to develop a value system for her students along with imparting knowledge to them which gives her satisfaction. She is also content with her career as a homoeopathic doctor as she gets to treat her patients with humility and compassion.

Talking about her achievements in life, Priyanka says that the biggest and dearest achievement to her was when she treated a vitiligo afflicted girl by going out of her way. She says that the girl’s financial state was not well, so Priyanka decided to go out of her way to get her proper treatment which gave her satisfaction.

Advising aspiring homoeopaths, Priyanka says that never stop learning and follow the principles of Master Hahnemann. She also suggests they keep developing emotional maturity to deal with their patients in an effective manner.

Given a chance to go back in time with a time machine, Priyanka says that she would like to become a psychologist as she is very empathetic with people.

Sharing her views on the impact of the COVID pandemic, Priyanka says that it taught people the value of good health, managing finances, and family time.
