Dean and Cultural Head Dr. Preeti Jain leverages her over 25 years of experience, as she focuses on innovative education, industry collaborations, skill-building, and creating society-ready students, shaping their academic and personal growth. She also heads the anti-ragging committee.

Dr. Preeti Jain is currently looking after the B.Tech first-year students at Medicaps University as the Dean of Engineering. She also serves as the Head of the Cultural Club. Previously, she has held the responsibilities of Dean of Science and Dean of Agriculture.

In 2001, she joined as the Head of the Department of Chemistry. Later, she was appointed in charge of MIST- Malwa Institute of Science & Technology, as the institute had an initial setup there. In 2009, the institute launched a new campus, the Medicaps Institute of Science and Technology, and she became the in-charge for this institute. In 2016, the institute was converted into a university, and Dr. Jain became the Dean of Science. In 2018, she also took charge as Dean of Agriculture. Additionally, she serves as the Cultural Head of the department and looks after the Anti-Ragging Committee as the Nodal Officer. Currently, she is overseeing the first-year B.Tech program in the Faculty of Engineering.

Dean of Engineering Dr. Preeti Jain shares that when the institute transitioned into a university, the Science Department was newly introduced, as earlier, the university only offered Engineering programs. Under her leadership as Dean of Science, they launched B.Sc. programs in Science, Forensic Science, and Agriculture. Later, B.Sc. Allied Science programs were also added. Similarly, under the Dean of Agriculture, courses expanded from only B.Sc. programs to M.Sc., and recently, an M.Sc. + MBA in Allied courses has been introduced.

Regarding the B.Tech program, she shares that when the university was newly formed, it had only seven departments. By 2025, the university had expanded collaborations with top industries including IBM, Intel, and L&T in Civil Engineering. The B.Tech program now has more than 37 sections across different branches. For the first year, students are grouped heterogeneously, sitting together irrespective of their branches. From the second year onwards, they join their respective departments.

In addition to conventional courses, the university offers industry-linked courses. In 2025, marking the institute’s 25 years, significant changes were implemented in curriculum, marking schemes, and lab systems. Earlier, labs followed conventional methods, but now advanced platforms and virtual labs have been introduced, especially for first-year students. Summer internships have become compulsory, and in the winter, students take value-added courses. These measures aim to prepare students to be society-ready from the very first year.

Dean Dr. Preeti Jain was born and brought up in Indore. She studied at convent schools and completed her B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Organic Chemistry. She earned her Ph.D. from Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya, Indore, and even after completing her Ph.D., she pursued another M.Sc. in Organic Chemistry. She worked in the industry for one and a half years in Quality Control before joining Medicaps University in 2001.

Over the last 25 years, she has performed multiple roles at the institution, from Head of Department to Dean, witnessing the growth of the university from an initial student strength of 240 to over 13,000 students today. She emphasizes that the institute’s motto, \\\"Knowledge is Power,\\\" has evolved to focus on producing students who are ready for society and the professional world.

Dr. Preeti Jain has been actively involved in all aspects of the university, including academics, administration, counseling, examinations, and annual fests. She shares that the cultural fest “Moonstone,” started in 2010, has grown into an All-India-level festival, attracting participation from students across the country. As the Cultural Head, she has been instrumental in shaping this platform for students to showcase talent and leadership.

She draws inspiration from every student, faculty member, and colleague, believing that everyone has something to teach. Though she does not have a single role model, she recalls Dr. Shamsher Singh, whose dedication and work ethic she admired and continues to follow.

Since childhood, Dr. Jain has been guided by the belief that, “A girl is beyond someone’s daughter, someone’s wife, and someone’s mother.” She strives to maintain her own identity beyond societal labels.

Comparing students of the past 25 years with today, she observes that current students are sharp and capable, but often lack planning skills and responsibility. She emphasizes to students the importance of taking responsibility for their actions and plans. She believes that rewards should not be the only motivation; the experience, confidence, and learning gained through execution are far more valuable.

Dr. Jain concludes that over 25 years, the university has developed advanced teaching platforms, industry-linked courses, co-curricular activities, and skill-building initiatives. Her constant focus has been to nurture students into techno-savvy, society-ready individuals. She shares that every challenge in her career, from faculty shortages to administrative responsibilities has strengthened her dedication to Medicaps University and its students.
