Dr Preetesh kept himself away from his family to make his career and today he has successfully become a Periodontist, working at Pacific Dental College in Udaipur.

Dr Preetesh Chandra Pal belongs to Kolkata. He did his BDS from Bhubaneswar, Orissa and P.G. from Indore. Currently he is working at Pacific Dental College, Udaipur as a Senior Lecturer. Since his internship, he has worked with different organizations, NGOs, Rotary clubs, and government and private clinics.

Dr Preetesh did his schooling from Vivek Bharti Shishu Shiksha Sadan, Kolkata and after that he moved to Bhubaneshwar, which was a life-changing moment for him.

Dr Preetesh is working as a Periodontist and is a member of Indian Dental Association. He is associated with KMN Foundation of Kolkata too for once attending a tobacco cessation oral health camp there.

During his BDS days, Dr Preetesh’s role model was one of his Prosthodontics teachers whose work gave him inspiration to move ahead in Dentistry. Later, during his P.G. time in Indore, his guide Dr. Unnati became his role model for encouraging him to fight with any situation and she always motivated him to look forward, move forward and stick to the plan.

Talking about achievements, Dr Preetesh says that during his BDS, he got the Best Graduate Award for securing first rank in Orissa state final year examination, which was a big achievement and a proud moment for him and his family. Also, during his P.G., he got the highest marks in his subject, which was also an achievement for him.

Dr Preetesh advises the students who want to join this field that you have to be polite in your behaviour with the patients as well as with the staff and seniors during your studies. Also, you must be an extrovert and try to socialise with people as it will help you in the long run for you to go a long way.

If Dr Preetesh gets a chance to time travel then he would like to go to the time when he was in class 11th and 12th to give more effort and time for his BDS preparation to lighten the financial burden of his parents.

During the Covid pandemic, Dr Preetesh says his experience was not extensively bad nor was it too good. It was normal for him as he was staying at a hostel and surrounded by friends. The only bad thing that happened to him was his career was getting delayed as his exams got postponed for three consecutive times. That was a very frustrating time for him. Other than that he was fine and everything was good for him and his family.

Apart from his clinical work, Dr Preetesh likes to do painting, listen to music and watch some web series. He is also preparing for some foreign exams.

From Dr Preetesh’s point of view, a balance should be there between education and experience. He says that experience with education is always a good combination because only education without any experience can’t be applied in a practical way. So experience is greatly important with a formal education to progress in life.

Dr Preetesh says that he is neither a born leader nor he has any leadership qualities till now but he is trying to develop it. He opines that to be a good leader, while working in a team, you should listen to your teammates and respect their opinion.
