Fulfilling his father’s dreams, Prakash Jain became a doctor with an aim to serve society, and for the last 22 years, he has been doing that. He has also been a Cricket enthusiast devoting much time and effort to play and promote Cricket.

Dr. Prakash Jain is a senior Gynaecologist and Obstetrician at RNT Medical College, Udaipur. He has been in the medical service of the Rajasthan Government for the last 22 years.

Dr. Prakash was born and raised in Udaipur and received his school education in Udaipur itself. Thereafter, he cleared the Pre Medical Test (PMT)securing the 151st position in Rajasthan and got selected for doing MBBS at RNT Medical College, Udaipur. After completing his MBBS, he again secured the 7th position in the pre-PG examination and did an MS in Gynaecology and Obstetrics from the same institute.

Dr. Prakash shares that his father motivated him to become a doctor. He shares that in his time there was not much guidance and availability of resources to prepare for the entrance test as opposed to now when everything, whether it is resources or guidance, are available aplenty.

Dr. Prakash believes that struggles and challenges are a part of life. He too had his share of struggles in life but instead of surrendering to the tough times, he always faced them head-on. He advises people that however tough a situation may be, your positive attitude toward the problems helps fight them.

Dr. Prakash has liked to play Cricket since childhood. He even organised an Under-19 Cricket Championship in his area. In 1988, he joined the Aravali Cricket Club and played for it for a few years. Then he joined the Udaipur Complex Cricket Club and played in the finals of the coveted Sukhadia League. In 1993, he founded his own Cricket Clubs by the name Gaurav Cricket Club and Sober Cricket Club which are affiliated with the District Cricket Association. He informs that about 150 players are playing with the clubs and two of their players have played in England too.

Besides, he has also been umpiring for the Rajasthan Cricket Association since 2001. He had stood first in the exam held for getting accredited as an umpire. About two and a half years ago, he, along with his friends, formed the Udaipur Cricket Army which has been organising major tournaments between professional Cricket clubs of the city. He says he has organised more than one hundred Cricket tournaments and played in around one hundred finals of various Cricket tournaments in his 35-year long cricket career. Besides, he also claims to have played more than 1500 Cricket matches with leather balls and out of them, he was the Captain in 1400-1450 matches.

Dr. Prakash also does his bit toward society. Every year he goes to a surgical camp that is held in Barabanki near Lucknow and gives his free medical services to destitutes and less privileged women.

Dr. Prakash considers his father as his first and foremost inspiration and role model. His father always motivated him to become a doctor and serve society. His father taught him to do selfless service to the needy without any want for money. He also acknowledges the support and motivation that he received from his mother, his brother and sister-in-law, and family members and friends to serve society.

Dr. Prakash shares his manifold learnings from his father. His father always taught him that if your intentions are right you will always prosper. Besides, there’s no substitute for hard work and even if you don’t succeed on the first attempt, you should never stop working hard as sooner or later you will surely get success.

Dr. Prakash thinks some people are born leaders and some learn leadership with life experiences. He has exuded leadership qualities since childhood and to be able to play around 1450 Cricket matches as the Captain is a testament to his firm leadership. He defines leadership as giving value to everyone’s opinion in the team and taking everybody along. Besides, he says that a leader is someone who does justice to people with their decisions.

To students, his piece of advice is, working hard is not enough, you ought to analyse whether you are working in the right direction. Besides, to aspiring cricketers, he advises that you should continually work to improve your performance at the game and learn something new every day. Furthermore, you ought to do an analysis of your game and capitalise on your strengths and improve on your weaknesses.

Whenever he gets free time from his busy profession and Cricket, he likes to go hiking, do swimming, cycling and spend time with his family and friends to live his life to the fullest. In his college days, he used to participate in swimming, running and debates and he also won many competitions of swimming, debates and running that he participated in.

Dr. Prakash is quite content with his life and expresses his gratitude to the Almighty for whatever he has bestowed upon him.

Dr. Prakash advises that we ought to enjoy each and every moment of life as life is a journey that is to be enjoyed.

To the youth, his message is that they have a lot of potential but they need to channelise their energy in the right direction as they are the future of the country. And instead of dwelling on their mistakes, they should focus on not committing the same mistakes again. Besides, they should be continually working hard even if they encounter failures.
