Dr. Niharika Jain is a Homoeopath and the founder of Vigyan Homoeo Clinic in Sagar.
Hailing from Sagar, Madhya Pradesh, Niharika earned her BHMS (Bachelor of Homoeopathic Medicine and Surgery) from L.B.S. Homoeopathic Medical College, Bhopal. Subsequently, she initiated her practice in 2017 and started preparing for the PG entrance exam. Achieving the third rank statewide, she secured admission into the Government Homoeopathic College, MP, and successfully completed her PG in Practise of Medicine in 2022.
Simultaneously, she engaged in online consultations during her PG studies, a practice that gained further momentum with the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, as people were more comfortable with the online consultation she had been already giving. She specialises in treating female diseases such as PCOD, menstrual irregularities, and autoimmune diseases. Currently, she has transitioned to full-time practice and the shift to online consultations has broadened her patient base, extending beyond national borders.
Niharika shares that she had never thought of becoming a doctor, she rather wanted to become an engineer. However, with the encouragement of her father, she decided to become a homoeopathy doctor and credits her father for everything that she has achieved today. Although, it was very challenging for her to decide to change her stream from maths to homoeopathy.
When she took admission into the BHMS course, initially she could not understand the biological terms. Her elder sister was also studying the same course but at a different college, so in her first year, she used to stay with her during weekends in her hostel and got her help in clearing the concepts. She excelled in her first year and got into the top 5 rank and she gradually developed a profound interest in homoeopathy. She admires how homoeopathy is an amalgamation of both art and science.
Reminiscing her childhood memories, she says that she has some really fantastic memories from her childhood, which she cherishes a lot. She remembers being teased by her colony kids for her small hair. She was an artistic child, but as she grew up, she did not get enough time to engage herself in those artistic activities. She used to participate in acting and dancing competitions. She also requests everyone to not let the child within them die.
When asked about her role models, Niharika shares that her father and her elder sister have been a guiding light to her throughout her life and have inspired her to become a homoeopathic doctor. Besides that, as she is the youngest member of her family, she has learned from every other member of her family. She suggests gaining knowledge from whichever source it comes from. She is grateful to all her mentors and teachers who have helped her on her journey up until now. She follows the sermons of Swami Vivekananda and is deeply inspired by his quotes. One of them is, "All power is within you; you can do anything and everything."
Niharika believes that education and experience both play an integral part in our lives. She believes that we must become capable of applying theoretical knowledge to practice. She advises everyone to read a lot and try to implement the learning that they gain through reading in their lives.
Talking about her achievements, Niharika says that she received a Young Researcher Award in 2022. Her research paper was selected by an international board and she presented it in Germany. She has completed her MD and has been selected for a research fellowship by the CCRH (Central Council for Research in Homoeopathy). She has addressed webinars in many countries, like Japan, the UK, and Europe. She considers making her parents proud of her and helping her patients some of her biggest accomplishments.
To all the youngsters, Niharika advises them to become good human beings first. She encourages relishing life's small moments. Learning, dedication, and perseverance help us fulfil our desired goals, she says.
Sharing her COVID experience, she shares that she was selected to be a part of research on the impact of homoeopathic medicines on COVID patients during her PG. She was a bit scared but was proud to be a part of such a crucial research team. She expresses how she experienced the sadness of the COVID patients as they had no hope for life and felt sympathetic to them. She feels that post-covid impact is still lingering on and urges people to also recognize the positive aspects of the COVID phase.
