A Doctor treats you, and a Physiotherapist adds value to it.
Dr. Neha Mishra is the owner of Just Heal Wellness Centre.
Neha hails from Mumbai. Growing up, she was a naughty kid and enjoyed a pampered childhood. She has pursued her Physiotherapy course in the UK.
Talking about her career choice, Neha says that she comes from a family of doctors and when the time came for her to choose her profession, she decided to become a doctor in a field that was not chosen by anyone in her family earlier. The list came down to being a Dentist or a Physiotherapist, she chose Physiotherapy because of her desire to heal people.
Neha has faced quite a few struggles in her journey. She says that the first challenge initially was to go around and get accustomed to the new culture and society. The struggle she is currently facing is that of the gender bias against women in the field of Sports Physiotherapy. However, she is confident of her skills and knowledge and thus also hopeful for the future.
Neha believes that she is a born leader. She also says that slowly but surely and through experience, she has developed better leadership qualities in herself.
Neha advises the budding physiotherapists to work on their soft skills to become empathetic with the patient's pain. She says that being empathetic develops trust between you and your patient, and thus you can treat them better.
According to Neha, both education and experience go hand in hand in her profession. She says every patient is different and you have to solve their problems with both your experience and what you have learned in your professional course.
Neha was raised by her single mother. She says that she grew up seeing her mother taking a stand for the family and managing everything on her own, which inspired her to be more like her. So Neha considers her mother as her role model.
Given a chance to travel back in time through a Time Machine, Neha would like to return to the time when she could be with her grandmother who is not with her anymore. She says that her grandmother had a great influence on her life and she would like to cherish beautiful moments with her again.
Neha is a hodophile and explores new places and plans new trips whenever she gets free time. She says that she has a long bucket list of places that she would like to visit.
Speaking of her professional associations, Neha says that she is an active member of the Glasgow Caledonian Academy Alumni Group for Indian Students, which helps Indian students with everything they might need while studying there. She also regularly volunteers for several NGOs to treat patients for free. Along with that, she is a member of the Indian Association of Physiotherapists. She is also associated with various corporate houses in the capacity of an Urbanomics Mentor. Recently she has been appointed as the Southwark coordinator for an MSME group that helps new startups. And lastly, she is also helping students with their aim of studying abroad.
Neha says that during the COVID pandemic, she couldn’t be a frontline warrior as she had to attend to her ill father. However, she kept in contact with people from her fraternity, helping them online and raising awareness among the general public about the virus.
