Dr. Neeta Mhatre Mishra is the founder of ‘ReachOut’ and co-founder of ‘Bloom’. She is also a homeopathic doctor and a psychotherapist.
Neeta is from Mumbai. Her journey in the field of psychotherapy started when she was battling a divorce in 2000 and was allotted a counselor for the process. The uncompassionate behavior of that counselor forced Neeta to start a safe place for people suffering from emotional and psychological issues and that is how ‘ReachOut’ came into existence.
Neeta says that ‘ReachOut’ caters to rape survivors, transgenders, and destitute children. She is also a trustee of ‘Amcha Ghar’, a pan India program to empower girls. She is also associated with IWPG, an organization based in South Korea, working for peace education.
Neeta is also associated with Canossa Jeevan Vikas Kendra and is soon going to become the head of the ‘Hijra’ community under the Cocoon Foundation and plans to work for their upliftment.
Neeta shares that she was the fourth girl child in the family and soon after her birth in November, her father passed away in the month of March. She had to listen to taunts of being an unlucky child who will be worthless to the family. However, Neeta says that her mother always supported her and stood by her.
Neeta shares that her childhood was spent with financial constraints. However, she will always be proud of her mother, who after losing her husband at the age of 37, took care of four children. Neeta says that her mother always taught her to look forward and never stop working for her dreams.
Neeta says that to come into this field one has to be a good listener and should not judge anyone for their actions and life stories.
Neeta shares that her Success Mantra in life is to keep an open heart and welcoming arms and to work with an open mind. She says that we should not try to change anyone but only better ourselves.
Neeta feels that she is a born leader. Even after being taunted from childhood and then through a divorce, she did not listen to or care for any negativity around her and just kept progressing in life.
When asked about her opinion on the importance of education and experience, Neeta says that education definitely matters but for her, experience has been a guiding force.
Talking about the COVID-19 pandemic, Neeta says that it taught us to use the resources available to us in the best optimum way. It turned us into a global community. However, she also laments the loss of lives during this period and wishes well for the families who lost their loved ones.
In her free time, Neeta likes listening to music and going on long drives.
