Dr Neeraj says that the life of a doctor is not easy. However, he takes pride in providing his services to society.

Dr Neeraj Nirala works as a Nephrology Specialist at GBH American Hospital dealing with the physiology and diseases of the kidneys. He has previously worked in Paras JK Hospital and has been responsible for dialysis, kidney transplant and blood sugar levels which has an impact on the functioning of the kidneys. Neeraj always wished to contribute to the well being and health of society and hence chose medicine as his profession.

Born and brought up in Madhya Pradesh, he completed his schooling there and then pursued his Doctor of Medicine from RNT Medical College, Udaipur. Neeraj shares that he used to study with his group of friends who are all doctors today and his father motivated him in the process. He shares that a doctor’s life is never easy and full of hardships sometimes having to work for 48 hours straight with no support system. Neeraj believes that to overcome such struggles, one’s determination and constant support from teachers and colleagues help during the difficult phases.

Discussing COVID, Neeraj shares that people who already have health issues like diabetes, heart problems or blood pressure issues, have a higher probability of contracting COVID. He feels elated and blessed to have helped his patients out of critical health issues and that they still remember him for his efforts.

For aspiring doctors, Neeraj shares that the profession of a doctor implies taking a big responsibility on oneself and involves dealing with a live person’s emotional, mental and physical health. He feels that one should be knowledgeable, exhibit good communication skills and exercise empathy towards people to be in this profession.

Neeraj shares that a doctor witnesses many proud moments in his/her life and narrates his experience of a challenging yet successful cadaveric transplant with a team of senior doctors.

If Neeraj could go back in a time machine, he would relive some moments with his father who is no more. He feels sad not having spent enough time with him due to his studies.

He says that though a doctor does not get much free time in his life, however, whenever he gets an opportunity, he likes to spend some time with his friends and family watching movies or visiting museums.
