Dr. Naveen was born in a small village named Jhalora in Jodhpur. He had his initial schooling there. Dr. Naveen says that his grandfather, though himself uneducated, taught him the importance of education and played a crucial role in his primary education. Later, Dr. Naveen moved to Jodhpur and completed his higher education there. He pursued his MBBS and MD at Dr. SN Medical College, Jodhpur. In 2013, after completing his MD, he got recruited through RPSC for medical college teachers. In 2014, he was appointed as an assistant professor of anesthesiology at his alma mater. Now he is working as an associate professor at the same college.
Dr. Naveen remembers how he would see people go to the city for medical treatment as his village lacked medical facilities. That’s when he became determined to become a doctor and serve society.
Dr. Naveen shares that anesthesiology has always been his favorite domain. He likes to serve in the emergency department of a hospital.
Dr. Naveen says that in the field of medicine, education and experience both have their own importance. In medicine, you need to constantly update your experience as diseases keep evolving and so do medicines to treat them.
Dr. Naveen believes that leadership is an innate quality. You can’t learn it; you can only hone it. Being an anesthesiologist requires Dr. Naveen to lead critical situations, so he thinks that he has leadership qualities in him.
During the first wave of COVID, it was very challenging for the entire medical fraternity, as Dr. Naveen says. He adds on to say that everyone became so weary of it that it created chaos.
To the aspiring doctors, Dr. Naveen gives his success mantra of the triple Ds: desire, determination, and dedication. He encourages them to have a desire and then go for it with full determination and dedication.
If Dr. Naveen could go back in time, he would want to relive his childhood. He would want to relive his time with his grandfather and tell him whatever he is today, as he owes it all to him.
Dr. Naveen draws inspiration from Swami Vivekananda and his teachings. Whenever he feels low, he reads his books, and it makes him feel invigorated.
