Specializing in biotechnology, food microbiology, and agricultural sciences, Dr. Narashans Alok Sagar has worked at NIFTEM, IVRI, Ranbaxy, and leading agri-biotech firms, contributing to food preservation, nano-emulsions, and agricultural innovation. Dr. Narashans Alok Sagar is a distinguished Assistant Professor at Chandigarh University, specializing in Biotechnology Research and Education.

He plays a pivotal role in the University Centre of Research and Development (UCRD) and is actively engaged in teaching and research at the Department of Biotechnology. His core areas of expertise include Waste Valorization, Food Microbiology, and Agricultural Biotechnology, which are critical fields driving scientific advancements and sustainable solutions.

With over nine years of research experience, Dr. Sagar is deeply passionate about Biotechnology, a field that has revolutionized healthcare, agriculture, and environmental sustainability. Chandigarh University, recognized as one of India's premier institutions, provides him with an excellent platform to explore innovative research, mentor students, and contribute to cutting-edge discoveries.

His path to Biotechnology was fueled by a strong passion for solving real-world problems. The ability to develop innovative products and treatments for diseases inspired him to specialize in this domain. His research focuses on bridging Biotechnology, Food Science, and Agriculture, creating impactful solutions that improve public health, food security, and environmental sustainability.

During his PhD studies, Dr. Sagar worked on the fusion of Agriculture and Food Sciences, a multidisciplinary approach that enhances the nutritional value, safety, and sustainability of food production. He successfully developed two functional foods, demonstrating his ability to translate research into real-world applications. This achievement further strengthened his commitment to exploring new scientific avenues.

Under the aegis of Chandigarh University, he continues to work on groundbreaking research, addressing some of the most pressing challenges in biotechnology. His goal is to develop sustainable solutions that can positively impact humankind, paving the way for advancements in biotechnology-driven healthcare, eco-friendly food production, and agricultural innovation.

A distinguished Biotechnology Expert and Academician, Dr. Narashans Alok Sagar hails from Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, a city known for its rich heritage and industrial significance. His father served in the Indian Railways, which provided him with a disciplined upbringing within a railway campus. His early education was completed at a Railway School, followed by further studies at local institutions in Moradabad. However, he fondly recalls Chandausi, a beautiful city in Uttar Pradesh, where he spent much of his formative years.

His academic path led him to Kanpur University, where he pursued his Post-graduation in Biotechnology. His passion for research and innovation drove him to undertake a PhD at the National Institute of Food Technology, Entrepreneurship & Management (NIFTEM) in Sonipat, Haryana—one of India's leading institutes specializing in Agriculture and Food Sciences. His PhD research focused on Food Technology, Biotechnology, and Sustainable Agricultural Practices, equipping him with a deep understanding of the industry’s challenges and advancements.

Before transitioning into academia, Biotechnology Expert Dr. Sagar gained extensive industry experience in leading pharmaceutical and agricultural companies. His professional career began at Ranbaxy, a globally recognized pharmaceutical company, where he worked for over one and a half years. Seeking to expand his expertise, he then joined NIFTEM as a Research Scholar and later the Indian Veterinary Research Institute (IVRI)—one of India’s premier institutes in veterinary sciences. At IVRI, he worked under a national project by FSSAI (Food Safety and Standards Authority of India) as a Senior Fellow in Food and Nutrition, conducting advanced research in Food Microbiology under the guidance of Dr. Ravikant Agrawal. His research at IVRI focused on developing nano-emulsions to enhance the shelf life of animal-derived food products, a breakthrough in food preservation technology.

Expanding his career into Agriculture Biotechnology, Dr. Sagar worked at Sivasakthi Agro Private Limited and Sowbhagya Biotech Private Limited, two prominent agri-input companies specializing in plant growth hormones, biofertilizers, and agricultural chemicals. As Manager of R&D, he led a team of 12 researchers, focusing on securing government funding for agricultural innovations and developing next-generation agricultural products.

His expertise in Biotechnology, Food Science, and Agricultural Innovation eventually led him to Chandigarh University, where he embraced a career in academia and research. Recognizing Chandigarh University as a premier private institution in Northern India, he joined as an Assistant Professor in Research and Development. With his vast industry knowledge and academic background, Dr. Sagar continues to mentor students, lead groundbreaking research, and contribute to the advancement of Biotechnology, Food Microbiology, and Agricultural Sciences.

Food Scientist Dr. Narashans Alok Sagar attributes much of his success to his father, who has been his greatest inspiration and mentor. His father’s unwavering support and encouragement have shaped his professional and personal life, instilling in him the values of hard work, determination, and resilience. Alongside his father, his brothers and siblings have played a crucial role in motivating him to embrace challenges and transform them into opportunities. He firmly believes in the philosophy that “It is better to try and fail than to do nothing at all.”—a principle that continues to guide his life.

A firm believer in self-driven ambition, Dr. Sagar embraces the mindset that “Dreams should be seen with open eyes, as closed eyes only bring sleep.” This philosophy has propelled him through his research journey, where he has represented his institutions at various national and international platforms. His contributions in food microbiology, biotechnology, and agricultural sciences have earned him recognition, further reinforcing his commitment to scientific advancement and societal development.

Seeking to translate his research into tangible impact, Dr. Sagar co-founded FBoost Agro Private Limited, a company dedicated to producing natural, plant-based products and essential oils. Recognizing the harmful effects of synthetic chemicals and preservatives in commercial products, his company focuses on chemical-free, eco-friendly alternatives that promote health, sustainability, and well-being. By merging scientific innovation with nature’s purity, the company aims to revolutionize the natural products market, providing healthier and safer options to consumers.
