A Consultant Urologist at Paras Health Hospital in Udaipur, Dr. Mukesh Sevag has been giving the best treatment possible to the patients coming to the hospital.
Dr. Mukesh has been working at the hospital since 2018 and is the Head of the Department of Urology there. Dr. Mukesh claims that they use the latest technologies and methods for all operations.
Hailing from Sikar, Rajasthan, Dr. Mukesh completed his schooling until the sixth grade in his village and then shifted to a boarding school. After completing his senior secondary education he shifted to Kota and prepared for the pre-medicals at Allen Institute for one year. He did his medical degree from Sardar Patel Medical College, Bikaner. In 2008, he went to Jamnagar, Gujarat, for a Master's Degree in General Surgery from MP Shah Medical College.
After completing his specialisation in Urology from B.J. Medical College, Ahmedabad in 2016, he worked for two years at a hospital of the Sterling Group in Ahmedabad. Later, he joined the Fortis-JK Hospital in Udaipur which was later renamed as Paras Health Hospital where he is currently working.
Delving into the intricacies of the medical profession, Dr. Mukesh says that while doing surgeries, every patient is like a new lesson for the doctor. To take on the new challenge, the doctors have to study the case of the patient from scratch. Doctors have to pre-plan and to be ready with the associated help which may be required before the surgery. According to him, pre-planning is one of the biggest challenges for any doctor.
Elaborating on the importance of urology, Dr. Sevag shares that urological problems may begin in the human womb and carry on up to the grave. There are some diseases which start when the child is growing in the womb and some which increase along with the age. He says every age group may have problems related to urology. In today’s era 95% surgeries are done through the latest technologies like laparoscopy, endourology, laser surgery, and robotic surgery.
Dr. Mukesh informs that, in the field of Urology, in the upcoming years, whatever advancement comes will come in the form of robotic surgeries as they are less painful, have minimal incisions and patients get back to work early.
Dr. Sevag describes that there are different branches of Urology like Paediatric Urology for the children who have defects from birth, Endourology for kidney stones and prostate, Robotic Surgery in Urology and Endourology with Laser. The people who work related to infertility are called Endourologist. Furthermore, there are several sub-specialities in Urology like the Uro-Oncology branch related to kidney or blood cancer.
Talking about his role models, Dr. Mukesh says his role model is his teacher, Dr. Shrenik J. Shah, who is the head and mentor of the Ahmedabad Civil Hospital. His basic motto is to never leave today's work for tomorrow; otherwise, it will pile up. He learned from him to always start a new morning with new work or targets.
Recalling his childhood, Dr. Mukesh says that as he did his primary education in his village, he had to go three kilometres everyday to attend his school.
Advising aspirants to his field, Dr. Mukesh says that education can give you the basics. But your ability to do hard work determines your success. It is important to have qualities like hard work, giving time for the patient, and understanding the disease. One should be able to understand the patient's disease first and then treat it accordingly.
If given a time machine to travel back in time, Dr. Sevag would like to join the Army in order to become a soldier.
In his free time, Dr. Mukesh likes to watch news channels. He also likes to go on outings with his family.
Dr. Mukesh advises the young generation that in the crucial years of life, that is, from the eleventh grade until graduation, the youth should keep away from social media. After deciding their field, they must use social media in a positive manner. He says hard work should be the main aim in life.
