Live each day as if there's no tomorrow.
Live each day as if there's no tomorrow.
Dr. Sandeep Metgud is an Endodontist. He is a professor at the Pacific Dental College in Udaipur.
Sandeep says dentistry was not his first choice. But, as his father could not afford the MBBS fees, he just came into dentistry and then sincerely did his BDS and MDS. He has been into teaching from day one and is not a practicing dentist. He taught for four years each at the Belgaum and Bengaluru campuses of the KLE college in Karnataka and then for some time at a college in Maharashtra. He also had a small stint in Benghazi, Libya. Since 2011, he has been at Pacific Dental College, teaching and looking after the administration.
When asked about his success mantra, Sandeep says that in order to succeed, you must come out of your small towns and villages and explore the world. He says he has been his own role model.
Sandeep says that you must realize that life is not perfect and stop trying to be a perfectionist. You must have adventure in your life, and you must live life to the fullest as if there is no tomorrow. According to him, the mantra for happiness is to explore the world. He himself goes on vacations two times a year and has been to the Vatican, Mecca, and Medina. He has also seen all the seven wonders of the world. He has traveled in all forms of transport, be it planes, choppers, cruises, or hot air balloons.
Sandeep says he is a happy and content man who feels younger every day interacting with his young students. He feels pride in creating new generations of dentists.
For newcomers, his advice is to be serious about their studies and duties and to give it their all. He says, "Be yourself, do what you know, and don’t live in a fake virtual world."
His idea of fun is staying fit and agile. At the age of 50, he goes for a six-kilometer walk every day and also goes cycling.
