An Associate Professor, Meenakshi runs a Homoeopathic Clinic in Udaipur.  She encourages young individuals to pursue careers aligned with their interests and suggests homeopathy as a promising option for aspiring doctors who are unable to secure an MBBS seat.

Dr. Meenakshi Shriwas has been working as an Associate Professor at the Rajasthan Vidyapeeth Homoeopathic Medical College for the last six years. Besides her teaching job, she also has her own homeopathic clinic called "Dr. Meenakshi Homoeopathic Clinic" in Udaipur since 2019.

Dr. Meenakshi shares that she finished her BHMS degree at National Homoeopathic Medical College in Lucknow. After that, she completed her post-graduation in Mumbai. Later on, she also finished a course in Child Nutrition and Child Care (CNCC). Recently, she earned her PhD in Homeopathy. She believes that ongoing education is crucial for a doctor, so she consistently enrolls in various courses to keep learning.

Reminiscing about her childhood, Meenakshi shares that her father had a job in the state government, and she spent her childhood in Udaipur. She went to Central Academy for her schooling up to class 10 and Kendriya Vidyalaya for classes 11 and 12. She grew up in a small, close-knit nuclear family, and her fondest memories from childhood are centered around her family.

Meenakshi mentions that she moved to different cities for her higher studies and also lived in Mumbai after getting married. However, Udaipur holds a special place in her heart, which is why she decided to settle down there permanently. She particularly enjoys Udaipur's weather.

When asked about her role models, Meenakshi points to her father. She admires him for his dedication to his children's education, even during tough times. He always stressed the importance of studying, which is why her sister became a dentist and her brother excelled in the prestigious IIT exam. From her father, she learned the valuable lesson of persevering through life's challenges and never giving up.

Her father also taught her that it's essential to focus on acquiring skills and knowledge rather than just chasing money, as money will come naturally when you have those skills. Besides her father, her mother, who is a homemaker, is also a role model to her. She learned the power of positivity from her mother.

Sharing how she entered the field of homeopathy,  Meenakshi says when she was in school, her older sister was studying medicine, and that inspired her to become a doctor too. However, she hadn't thought about homeopathy at that time.

Meenakshi says that after completing her 12th grade, she went to Kota to prepare for the PMT (Pre-Medical Test) exam. After the exam, she had two choices: BDS (Bachelor of Dental Surgery) and BHMS (Bachelor of Homoeopathic Medicine and Surgery). She didn't know much about homeopathy at first, so she did some research about it and decided to go for BHMS.

Initially, she was unsure about her choice, but her perspective changed during her college when she saw the positive results of homeopathy in her college's outpatient department (OPD). Her interest in homeopathy grew, especially after meeting a teacher, who was a kind and generous person. That teacher guided the students without charging any fee, and Meenakshi learned many valuable things from him. She now applies those lessons in her own homeopathic practice.

She talks about the challenges she has faced in her journey in homeopathy. She mentions that homeopathy is a complex and extensive field with a lot of difficult literature to study in college. One of her main struggles was figuring out how to put theoretical knowledge into practical use.

Meenakshi also explains that in homeopathy, each doctor has their unique way of treating patients, and this made it confusing for her during her college years. She had to decide whose approach to follow and adapt as her own style of practice.

After finishing her graduation and post-graduation, she continued to learn and grow steadily. She gained valuable experience and confidence by working in a charitable trust. This practical experience helped her develop her skills in the field of homeopathy over time, says Meenakshi.

Sharing about her achievements, she says that she was consistently one of the top-performing students during her time in college. Additionally, she has published several research papers based on the cases she encountered in her clinic. These papers have been featured in both international and national journals.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, she and her team published a paper discussing the effects of COVID and the potential of homeopathy to treat the disease, which was also published in an international journal. She received an award for one of her papers on Pain Management in Homeopathy, which she considers an important academic achievement.

However, Meenakshi feels that her greatest achievement is witnessing the happiness in her patients. Most of her patients come to her through referrals, which is a significant accomplishment for her because it reflects the trust people have in her and her practice.

She believes that being an effective homeopathic doctor requires being a good listener and a keen observer. It's essential to approach patients without any biases or preconceived notions. These qualities are crucial for a homeopathic doctor.

Meenakshi’s favorite quote is: "If you truly desire something with all your heart, you will attain it." This quote reflects her belief in the power of genuine determination and passion.

Meenakshi distinguishes between education and experience by explaining that education serves as the foundation for anything, while experience is an ongoing form of learning throughout life. She emphasizes that education is a lifelong experience, and experience is a continuous source of education. To her, both are equally important.

Meenakshi’s message to young people is to choose a career based on their interests. She believes that when you pursue a career you are passionate about, you will work diligently and achieve success.

For youngsters aspiring to become doctors, she suggests considering homeopathy as a good option. If they don't succeed in cracking the MBBS (medical) entrance exam, they should explore other opportunities instead of getting discouraged.
