Dr. Mathew Thomas is a Motivational Speaker and a Leadership Coach. He is the owner of Mentora, his training institute.

Mathew hails from Kalyan, Mumbai. His parents belong to Kerala but he was born and brought up in Mumbai.

Recalling his childhood memories, Mathew says that he had an amazing childhood and his parents never deprived him of anything. He did his schooling at New Lourdes School in Kalyan. He passed his twelfth  from CHM College in Ulhasnagar. Thereafter, he went to Pune University to pursue engineering.

After completing engineering, he joined Bharat Bijlee, an engineering company in Mumbai. After gaining two years of experience, he further pursued Management in Marketing at Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies. After completing his master's he did a job in the IT sector and then started his own business and says that his business journey has been quite amazing.

Mathew says that after establishing his business, he moved towards spirituality and psychology and did P.hD. in Management and Psychology from Pacific University in Udaipur. After completing his PhD, he came into the field of Education Training and is currently working in the field of Motivational Speaking and Leadership Training. He trains people from top institutes and top corporate companies in India.

Talking about his interest in the field, Mathew says that his life changed when he was pursuing engineering. He says that when he was in the second year of his college, he realized that apart from his technical skills, he needed to work on and develop his communication skills as well and he used to work on his English after his college hours. He also used to read books by Osho and practice English standing in front of the mirror and gained significant confidence. Soon after coming out of his engineering college, he had acquired command over the language and that became the foundation of his journey. After pursuing Management, he realized that coding is not his forte and he established a business in the field of HR recruitment. The business was going quite well but somehow his focus started moving onto spirituality. He researched a lot about the field, and came into the field of leadership training.

Speaking about his role models, Mathew says that he is a big fan of Osho. Apart from him, Sachin Tendulkar and Amitabh Bachchan are his biggest role models. He has mapped their characteristics throughout and aims to bring their kind of behaviorism into his life. Buddha and his journey also inspire him, says Mathew. His father has also been the greatest role model of his life.

Regarding his mistakes, Mathew says that he is a bunch of mistakes. Recalling some of his mistakes, Mathew says that when he was in Bharat Bijlee, he got into an argument with his boss and decided to resign after the argument. However, his boss guided him to the right path and saved him from making the biggest mistake of his life. He says that taking decisions on the spur of the moment has been his biggest mistake.

Mathew advises people to always keep their ego and anger aside, pause at the moment and push the decisions to a later time, and think for a few times before taking any decision in their lives.

Sharing his success mantra, Mathew says that just reading any motivational book or watching videos would not have an impact on a person’s life. Smart work is good but hard work is important, you should be action-oriented in order to achieve success.

To aspiring motivational speakers, Mathew says that there are four good pillars to building a strong foundation and following these four mantras success will automatically fall into place. Speaking about the four mantras, Mathew says that being choiceless, passionate, maintaining focus, and being disciplined are very important to achieve consistency and success.
