Dr. Manish Kumar is an Orthodontist who practices in Ranchi at the Uma Dental Clinic Ortho Center. His ancestors, who were originally from Bihar, moved to Ranchi many years ago. He was born and raised in Ranchi.
Manish states that throughout his childhood, he was quite confused about his career, but then he realized that if you want to make your life worthwhile, you must help people. So he decided to pursue a career in medicine. Manish says that he took medical entrance tests alongside his Botany degree (Honors). He eventually received admission into Patna Dental College.
Manish says that initially, he encountered many difficulties. He first believed that dentistry was a simple career, but with time, he came to realize that it requires a great deal of skill and patience. He says that he struggled to build his clinic’s identity, so he focused on gaining people’s trust in his services. He also takes great pleasure in the fact that he has successfully run his dentistry clinic for the past 13 years.
Manish says that the government gave three closure orders for the clinic during the pandemic. He states that the lockdown was a challenging phase, during which he felt like his daily routine and practice had ceased. He says that half of his family, his mother, father, and wife, were infected by COVID-19, so there were many challenges to deal with, but then he realized that if there is no battle, there is no life; if there is a desire to learn, there is a career.
Manish says his father inspired him to contribute to society, so he joined the Ram Krishna Paramhansa Mission, where he provides free dental services to the underprivileged.
Manish considers his parents as his initial role models in life, followed by Professor Anurag Rai, an Orthopedic Surgeon under whom he received training in Dental Orthopedic Surgery.
Manish enjoys playing cricket and volleyball in his spare time, as well as spending time with his children. According to him, he makes sure his children learn something and grow to trust him as a father.
Manish advises young aspirants who wish to pursue a profession in dentistry to decide to become entrepreneurs and establish their clinics because there aren't many jobs available for dental surgeons. Always aim for perfection, constantly hone your skills, and give your all into what you do, he advises. Manish suggests that new doctors should earn their patients' respect and loyalty.
