Looking back at his childhood, Dr. Manish shares that he was born in Udaipur. Due to his father's job that involved frequent transfers, he studied in different locations across Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Gujarat.
Initially finding it challenging to adapt to new schools and make friends after every few years, he later recognized the advantages of experiencing diverse cultures during his growing years. Dr. Manish believes people often resist change, although it's a constant in life. His early experiences taught him the importance of embracing change and staying open to it, a perspective he still holds dear.
After completing his 12th grade, Dr. Manish pursued MBBS. He secured the third rank in Gujarat during his 12th standard, earning admission to a top medical college in the state. He completed his MBBS at Smt NHL Municipal Medical College in Ahmedabad. Excelling in MBBS, he gained entry into the prestigious Orthopedics branch for his MS. His MS in Orthopedics was pursued at a renowned college in Ahmedabad. Emphasizing the importance of quality education, he asserts that good colleges provide valuable mentors and knowledge.
Deciding to further specialize, Dr. Manish pursued advanced training in joint replacement. He journeyed to West Germany for training in minimal invasive joint surgery. This clinical fellowship broadened his expertise, paving the way for his career in joint replacement surgery.
Beyond medicine, Dr. Manish discovered a passion for cycling, which he embraced as a sport rather than a mere hobby. He has covered an impressive 50,000 kilometers in cycling. His monthly cycling distance ranges from 800 to 1000 kilometers.
Dr. Manish's cycling accomplishments are noteworthy, encompassing challenging routes such as the Death Road in the Himalayas, Manali to Khardung La to Sach Pass, Udaipur to Jaisalmer, Udaipur to Statue of Unity, Neemuch, Chittorgarh, and Mount Abu. Cycling has instilled in him balance and humility, and enabled him to develop friendships while sparking his interest in running marathons. He's completed 21 to 42-kilometer marathons, participating even in national events. Nature exploration further fosters his love and respect for the environment.
Reflecting on health, Dr. Manish underscores the significance of valuing the gift of our bodies over material possessions. He notes that people often prioritize the latter. He avoids late-night parties, preferring to start his day with a sunrise view, which infuses him with positivity.
When asked about his role models, Dr. Manish says that he drew inspiration from different individuals at various life stages. His mentors, family, friends, colleagues, and even sports personalities have contributed to his growth.
Addressing students, Dr. Manish encourages them to consider medicine as a fulfilling profession. Despite its demands, he believes a career in the medical field brings happiness to a doctor when treating patients. He highlights the dual benefits of financial stability and goodwill in the medical field.
Dr. Manish’s advice to the youth revolves around distinguishing between productive and unproductive work due to modern distractions. He advocates investing more time in productive endeavors.
