Dr. Manas Ranjan Panigrahi currently serves as the Pro Vice-Chancellor and Dean-Academics at Sangam University, Bhilwara. Prior to this, he held the position of Director at Symbiosis Skills and Professional University.
Dr. Manas is originally from Bhubaneswar, Odisha. Driven by a deep-rooted familial connection to the education sector, Manas embarked on a teaching journey. Starting as a primary school teacher, he later pursued research at Jamia Millia Islamia University. During his doctoral studies, he contributed as a research associate at NCERT, followed by a stint as a lecturer at a BEd college. His academic journey continued as an Assistant Professor at the Manav Rachna International Institute of Research and Studies, along with a stint at IGNOU. A significant chapter unfolded when he undertook a UN assignment in East Africa, spanning five enriching years across eight diverse countries.
Manas played a pivotal role in shaping the new National Education Policy. As a seasoned trainer and policy designer, he conducted conferences and workshops, propelling international-level education forward.
His passion for research and policy development has been instrumental in Manas's success. He boasts 48 published research papers in peer-reviewed journals. He has also guided national and international students for their Masters and PhDs, particularly students who are working under his guidance in ICT-integrated teacher’s education. He has also worked towards the development of Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) and blended approach courses, which have benefited lakhs of students across the country.
Reflecting on his childhood years, Manas recalls a fun and sporty school life in Bhubaneswar. Holding an NCC 'B' Certificate adds a badge of discipline to his spirited youth.
While Manas encountered minimal professional struggles, his UN stint posed a linguistic challenge due to his initial lack of proficiency in English. Undeterred, he honed his language skills, embodying a commitment to continuous learning.
Among his accomplishments, Manas takes pride in pioneering the inclusion of online and blended education concepts in the National Education Policy.
Manas considers his parents as his role models. He is also inspired by the educational philosophy of Rabindranath Tagore. He encourages the younger generation to venture into teaching. He emphasizes the fusion of passion and profession, urging them to follow the mantra of 'learn, relearn, and unlearn' for success.
Asked to weigh education against experience, Manas underscores the invaluable nature of experience, noting that it unfolds a realm of new insights.
