Coming from a small village, Malchand did well in the field of education and has been working as an Assistant Professor in Udaipur’s well-known college for the past ten years.

Dr. Malchand Jhala has been working as an Assistant Professor at Vidya Bhawan G.S. Teachers College, Udaipur for the last eleven years. Apart from teaching Economics, he is in-charge of the B.Ed Department and other college activities.

Malchand hails from a small village in Nagaur district of Rajasthan. He did his schooling from Government school there. He says that although he was extremely interested in Mathematics but due to non-availability of Science-Math in his village, he had to complete his 11th and 12th from Arts stream. He did his graduation from Government Bangur College, Didwana and PG in Economics from MDS University, Ajmer. Thereafter, he did his B.Ed from Agrawal P.G. College, Jaipur. He says that while doing B.Ed, he desired to enter into the field of education. So he gave the PMET exam and based on that, he got a seat for M.Ed in Vidya Bhawan College in Udaipur.

Malchand soon started his career from Vidya Bhawan after clearing his M.Ed. Alongside his job, he also qualified his NET exam in the very first attempt and took admission in MLSU for Ph.D.

Talking about his role models, Malchand says he considers his teachers and professors as his role models because of their teaching pedagogy and their hold on their respective subjects.

Sharing his COVID experience, Malchand says that like everyone else, it was a bad experience for him too. Due to the sudden imposition of the lockdown, he could not go to his hometown and stayed in the staff quarters of the college. Further he says that due to being alone for a long time, many negative thoughts started popping out in his mind that frightened him. But constant support of family, friends, neighbors and the management kept him balanced and he did not lose his mental peace. He spent his time teaching online.

If Malchand gets a chance to time travel through a Time Machine, he would like to relive his school life.

Malchand recommends the youth to identify your area of interest and then work hard in that field instead of hopping onto different fields. It will lead you to nowhere. He advises them to study not just for getting a degree but for the purpose of acquiring knowledge so that they could reach the ladder of success. Also, he suggests them to always keep their knowledge updated with time.
