Born and raised in Udaipur, Prashant did his schooling and MBBS in Udaipur itself. He did his MS in Orthopedics from JLN Medical College, Ajmer. Then he did his one-year fellowship in Joint Replacement from Mumbai. Thereafter he did his fellowship in Arthroscopy at Gandhi Hospital, Jaipur.
After completing his fellowship in Jaipur, Prashant worked at Geetanjali Hospital, Udaipur. Currently, he is serving as an Orthopedic Consultant at GBH American Hospital, Udaipur.
Prashant shares that he joined GBH American Hospital during the Covid pandemic only. It was the time when the pandemic was at its peak, but everyone at the hospital put in collective efforts to serve in the best interest of patients. He says, without fear of catching the virus himself, he did all the trauma and emergency surgeries at the hospital taking all the precautionary measures prescribed under the Covid protocol. Besides, Prashant says that during the pandemic, people got the opportunity to stay at their homes. And, during this time, people took the best care of their health like never before. People took to cycling, Yoga, and other indoor physical exercises during the pandemic.
Prashant thinks both education and experience are important in the medical field. He shares that in the medical field, an education teaches one what to do and what not to do. But experience in the field teaches one the nuances and technicalities of things and the reasoning behind them. Besides, he advises, one should keep learning and updating oneself with the latest knowledge, changes, and technologies in the field.
Prashant is of the opinion that although leadership can be a born personality trait, leadership acquired with work lasts forever and one becomes a leader by their work only. Besides, he says that a leader is someone who takes everyone in the team along.
To medical professionals, his pieces of advice are that they should never lose their temper whilst performing any medical procedure or dealing with their patients even if they feel pressured by the work. They should treat their patients like family members and treat them nicely. He also adds that they should also actively involve their subordinates in medical procedures like surgery or any operation that they perform so that their learnings can be ensured too. Furthermore, he says that the medical profession is a slow learning curve and it takes time to succeed as a doctor.
Prashant considers his elder brother and father as his role models. He says that both of them have a calm and composed demeanor which also inspires him to be considerate of others.
