Hard work definitely pays off.
Hard work definitely pays off.
Dr. Ravi Kumar is the Principal at Pacific Dental College & Research Center, Udaipur. He has been working in this position since 2014. He says that initially, he had no idea about Dentistry so he chose to become a medical doctor but due to filing the form wrongly, he could not qualify for the Medical Entrance Test and had to join Dentistry.
Talking about his childhood memories, Dr. Ravi says that he belongs to a small village from where he did his partial schooling as there was only a school upto the 7th std. in his village. After that, he had to go 5 km away from his house for schooling and because of limited transportation facilities at that time, he had to walk to school.
Dr. Ravi says that everyone has suffered during the Covid pandemic and even their profession was also impacted. He says that due to the lockdown, the classes were put off and the students were sent home and only the staff had to come to serve the patients. But he says that being in the health care sector, they did not face much problem because it is their duty to work as front line warriors by taking into account all the precautionary measures.
Dr. Ravi says that he has been in this profession for more than twenty years and has noticed that there has been a lot of difference between education of earlier times and that of now. He thinks that in today’s era, people have taken education for granted as in the earlier times, getting a degree and taking education was not as easy as it is today. He feels that today, the professional level is also going down because taking education has become very comfortable now-a-days.
Dr. Ravi advises the young doctors that you should keep up your profession, understand its values and know how to bring it up. So it is your duty to uphold your profession and respect it.
About role models, Dr. Ravi says that at every stage of life, someone or the other has been his role model. First of all, his parents who did all the hard work for him and taught him too were his ideals. He feels grateful towards his primary and high school teachers for inspiring him to go for higher education. Also, a few teachers in this profession inspired him to progress in life and become a professional.
To relax in his free time, Dr. Ravi likes to listen to music, travel and explore different places.
If Dr. Ravi gets a chance to go back in time, he would go back to his college time and opt for Engineering as he was always interested in that field but due to family pressure, he entered into the health care sector.
