Dr Khem Chand Soni is a passionate Zoologist who has strived hard to live the life and career that his father dreamt for him. He is content and satisfied by building successful professionals through his teaching.

Dr Khem Chand works as an Associate Professor in Zoology at the Government Lohia P.G. College in Churu. He has been working in the teaching line since 1991.

In his sessions, Dr Khem Chand discusses Wildlife and Heritage Conservation. Moreover, for motivating the students and developing their interest in the Sciences, he has made a Youtube channel of his own, where he discusses Science, Heritage, Zoology concepts, Culture, and other youth-focused skill development topics.

Dr Khem Chand was born in Kolkata, and during the India-Bangladesh War, his family migrated and settled in their native town Ratanpur in the Churu district of Rajasthan. He completed his primary and secondary education in Ratanpur, did his B.Sc and M.Sc from the government college in Churu, did his M.Phil from Dungar College in Bikaner, and PhD from Ajmer University in Ajmer. Dr Khem Chand also did a Post Doctorate from Sweden. However, he lost his father very early and self-funded all his personal and educational expenses via teaching at coaching centres, schools, colleges, and taking private tuition simultaneously. Initially, he even worked at a soap factory. He says he earned enough to save after meeting all expenses. Later, he got a government job and settled well.

Dr Khem Chand feels pride in the fact that about three hundred of his students have been successful in Medical entrance exams to date. Many others are successfully working in Civil Services, as teachers and lecturers, and in Pharmacy and Ayurvedic Sciences, etc. Many of his students have settled abroad and are doing well in international universities. Dr Khem Chand counts this as his achievement. Moreover, as part of his achievements,  he went to Malaysia in 2006, and in 2008, he attended an International Conference in Belgium, both funded by the UGC.

Dr Khem Chand has taught and kept the students engaged through his Youtube Channel. He has made videos with HD quality on a variety of topics. The channel has almost fifteen thousand hours of running time and is followed by around three thousand five hundred students from countries including, India, Pakistan, Taiwan, Nepal, Indonesia, Bangladesh, and some European countries too. He says he focused on good quality videos to give a real-time class experience to the students. Dr Khem Chand’s efforts received a positive response, and students from different parts of the world took an active interest in his videos. He also organises various online competitions and recreational activities to garner the students' interest during the college breaks.

If Dr Khem Chand gets a time machine, he would like to relive his childhood in the village, playing the rural games, and living on his farms.

During his free time, Dr Khem Chand likes to do painting, wildlife photography, listen to old classical music, spend time with nature, and go travelling. Wildlife Photography is his passion, and he plans to set up a photography studio after retirement.

Dr Khem Chand believes that Zoology has a lot of scope for students. After completing M.Sc, they can get a decent paying job at the starting level. He thinks students with calibre can grab opportunities worth lakhs. Wildlife photography, animation, and image technology are creative and highly paid areas in his opinion. After completing the intermediate studies with a science background, a student has a lot of opportunities, including medical preparations, completing bachelors and masters in science and preparing for civil services, international education, or opening a coaching centre in a well-populated city. Thus, in his view, a science student has loads of opportunities at hand.

Dr Khem Chand advises that one should make friends from all age groups to gather experiences of all kinds. He feels that the younger generation has curiosity and helps us discover new perspectives, whereas older people have immense experience and they guide us well. Thus, the best of both worlds is possible in this manner.

Dr Khem Chand’s father is his role model, and he is living the life that his father wanted him to. Although his father dreamt of him being a doctor, Dr Khem Chand is happy and satisfied in building future doctors.
