Coming from a rural background, Kapilesh Tiwari beat all adversities and has done well to become an HOD in a Teachers’ Education College.

Dr Kapilesh Tiwari is the HOD of the STC Department at the Pacific College of Teachers’ Education in Udaipur. He has been in this post for the last three years, earlier he was a lecturer in the same college for twelve years. He looks after the academic and time table management in the college and also takes classes. He also solves students’ problems.

Kapilesh shares that he comes from a village which lacked resources when he was in his school. He remembers his childhood when they played various rural games.

Kapilesh did his schooling from his village Bhinder and was also active in the Scouts & Guides Program for which he also won a Governor’s Prize. After school, he did his college studies from MLSU, Udaipur where he did BA in Sanskrit Honours with Geography. He did his B.Ed from Vadodara. He later did M.Ed and MA in Sanskrit.

Kapilesh joined a government project, the ‘Saksharta Abhiyaan’ from 1998 to 2002 when he adopted an entire village and made it literate. He won many awards for his performance in the project. He joined Pacific College in 2006 and has remained there till date.

Kapil shares that as his grandfather was a renowned astrologer, he too developed an interest in the subject and studied it. His PhD is also on the topic ‘Astrological Effects on Criminal Activities’.

Discussing Covid times, he says that he tried to help people by distributing food and clothes etc. As District Commissioner of Scouts & Guides he managed the relief work provided.

Talking about his struggles, Kapilesh says that he came from a middle class farmer family and had to do his studies with borrowed books. When he came to Udaipur, initially he had to live in a very small room where he somehow managed everything from cooking to studying to sleeping.

When asked about role models, Kapilesh says he considers his mother as his role model. He says his mother worked hard and helped his father in all chores.

In his free time, Kapilesh reads books on Astrology and sometimes goes out.

His message for everyone is to recognise the hard work done by all successful persons and toil hard to achieve success in life.
