Dr. Kalpana Upmanyu works as a Senior Consultant and Head of the Department of Psychology at Sumitra Hospital. She addresses psychology-related issues and treats patients through counselling, testing, and therapy.
Currently residing in Noida, Dr. Kalpana pursued part of her education in India and completed the rest at foreign universities. She has been associated with multiple hospitals in the NCR region and is contributing to the field of psychology.
Recalling her childhood memories, she recalls growing up in Muzaffarnagar and completing her graduation there. Despite marrying early, she pursued her studies after marriage, supported by her husband and family.
Sharing about her struggles, Dr. Kalpana says she faced many challenges as a woman, experiencing highs and lows, especially within her joint family. Despite these challenges, she credits her family's love and support for helping her achieve her dreams. Though she lost her husband early, she found strength in her children's support.
Among her achievements, she highlights her selection among the top five candidates in India in the UGC interview for her post-doctoral course and being the top student in her MA and M.Ed. She developed a psychological tool, Emotional Divorce in Indian Women, which has been used in many research studies and has received 225 5-star ratings on Google. She has been associated with many hospitals and helped several persons overcome fear through her counselling sessions and informational videos during the pandemic.
Regarding her role models, she says she considers herself her role model, continuously striving for self-improvement.
In her spare time, she enjoys helping the less fortunate, listening to music, conducting research, and reading.
To manage stress, she likes sitting alone and doing meditation. She advocates living a stress-free life and enjoying every moment.
