HoD-CSE Dr. Kailash Bandhu focuses on research-driven education, industry-ready skills, and live project-based learning. Through initiatives like the Career Developers Community, he empowers students with real-world experience, adaptability to emerging technologies, and strong professional discipline.

Dr. Kailash Bandhu is Head of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Medicaps University, Indore. He joined Medicaps University in 2020 as an Assistant Professor and was later promoted to Professor. Currently, he serves as the Head of the Department.

Under his leadership, the department has initiated several new activities, one of the most significant being the Career Developers Community. Through this initiative, selected students were recruited into a Developers Community and assigned real-time projects. These students began working on live projects, through which they learned extensively on a daily basis.

They became capable of deploying applications independently and successfully deployed projects for the university. These products are still actively used at Medicaps University. Simultaneously, students learned new technologies, adapted to changing requirements, ensured project security, and gained hands-on industry exposure. Through this developers community, students also became employable and secured placements in reputed companies with good salary packages.

In the Computer Science and Engineering Department of the university, students are consistently motivated to pursue research. Dr. Bandhu emphasizes that the industry relies heavily on research-based work, and without a research-oriented mindset, long-term growth is not possible. Therefore, the department focuses on developing students’ abilities to innovate, think critically, and contribute meaningfully to research-driven and impactful work for their academic and professional growth.

HoD Dr. Kailash Bandhu shares that the Department of Computer Science and Engineering offers multiple academic programs, including B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering, B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering with Advanced AI in collaboration with IBM, and B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering with AI and Analytics in collaboration with Intel. In addition, the department offers an integrated M.Tech program in Computer Science and Engineering and a Ph.D. program also in Computer Science.

Dr. Kailash Bandhu shares that, after completing his B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering, he initially planned to work in the industry. However, due to challenges related to communication skills at that time, he explored opportunities in teaching. During that period, faculty positions in engineering colleges were readily available due to a shortage of teaching professionals, making it easier for him to enter the teaching field. Later, he considered transitioning to the industry, but due to his growing interest in teaching and the opportunities for career growth within academia, he decided to continue in the teaching profession.

Reflecting on his early life, he shares that his mother was not educated, and his father had studied only up to the 8th standard. Despite this, both of his parents were extremely hardworking and dedicated. Observing their perseverance, he felt inspired to do something meaningful to support his family and improve their quality of life, particularly because they were engaged in farming. He began his engineering journey without even knowing the formal process of admission into engineering programs. However, by meeting new people, observing others, and learning from their experiences, he moved forward step by step. His parents remained his greatest source of motivation, encouraging him to progress and contribute positively to society. He firmly believes that their support and inspiration shaped who he is today.

He attributes his success to three core values: punctuality, discipline, and hard work. By consistently applying these principles in his life, he has been able to reach his current position.

For individuals aspiring to join the teaching profession, he says that certain qualities are essential. These include strong communication skills, in-depth subject knowledge, punctuality, discipline, and the ability to be an effective speaker. Without these qualities, sustaining a career in teaching becomes challenging.

HoD-CSE at Medicaps University, Indore, Dr. Kailash Bandhu’s message to the youth is to maintain discipline and punctuality, develop a research-oriented mindset, and remain open to updating and upgrading their skills. He emphasizes the importance of adaptability, encouraging students and professionals to stay flexible with evolving technologies and be prepared to learn new skill sets whenever new technologies emerge.
