With twelve years of expertise providing joint replacement services and fifteen years working in orthopedics, Dr. Himanshu has devoted himself to his career and has a track record of over 15,000 joint replacement surgeries. He expresses contentment and finds joy in his profession.

Dr. Himanshu Mathur serves as a Senior Joint Replacement surgeon at HCG Hospital in Ahmedabad. His specialization includes joint-related problems, replacement surgeries, and complex trauma surgeries. Additionally, he occasionally performs revision surgeries. Prior to his current role, he had worked at the Shalby Hospital for some time.

A native of Ajmer, Himanshu previously served as a lecturer at the medical college of Ajmer, imparting knowledge to the students for a duration of 4 to 5 years. Inspired by his father, a general surgeon, Dr. Mathur chose a career in Orthopedics, subsequently specializing as an Orthopedic Surgeon and later as a Joint Replacement Surgeon. He derives a unique satisfaction from operating on patients and witnessing their recovery.

Himanshu completed his schooling at St. Anselm Senior Secondary School, Ajmer. Having passed the AIPMT in 1999, he pursued an MBBS from B.J. Medical College, Ahmedabad, and subsequently earned an MS in Orthopaedics from VS Hospital. After a lecturing stint at Ajmer Medical College, he returned to Ahmedabad to focus on joint replacement procedures. Since then, he has been practicing in Ahmedabad.

Sharing about his struggles,  Himanshu states that he initially aspired to enter the civil service and also prepared for it for some time. However, recognizing it wasn't his calling, he shifted his focus to clearing PMT and pursuing MBBS. He faced a language barrier as the teachers used to teach in Gujarati during his MBBS, but as it is an easy language, he was able to understand it. However, during his MS course, his schedule was hectic, and he didn’t sit idle for even a single moment.

Speaking of his achievements, Dr. Himanshu shares that he was more into reading books and inclined towards academics, and seeing him, no one believed that he could become a surgeon one day. However, he made it happen through his hard work and dedication. He has a track record of over 15,000 joint replacement surgeries.

To all the aspirants who want to become surgeons, he advises them that it is a long journey and don't expect easy and early rewards, so be patient. Be sure about the field you are choosing, because if you want to make a career in it, you must be passionate about it.

Comparing education and experience, he says that one must complete their education first, and then experience comes into play. Experience determines how successful a person is going to be in life.

Dr. Himanshu expresses no major regrets and affirms that, given a chance to revisit his past, he wouldn't alter anything. However, he expresses a desire to relive the years dedicated to preparing for UPSC civil services.

To all the youngsters, he advises them to be sincere in their work in the best possible way. Don’t compare yourself with anyone else, and be satisfied with your own life.

In his spare time, he indulges in travel, reading, and poetry writing. His interest in astronomy is evident through his possession of a telescope, and he actively participates in social service clubs like the Rotary Club.
