Dr. Hari Shankar Paliwal serves as an Assistant Professor at the Madan Mohan Malviya Government Ayurved College, Udaipur where he also acts as a consultant for surgeries done in the hospital. Previously, he worked as an assistant professor and consultant at Parul University in Vadodara for two years.
Born in Lawan Village in Pokaran, Rajasthan, he completed his schooling and 12th grade in his hometown. Following that, he began preparing for the PMT, cleared the exam and secured admission to BAMS in Ayurveda. He completed his graduation and post-graduation from Madan Mohan Malviya Government Ayurved College, Udaipur, where he is currently pursuing his PhD. He also earned a gold medal during his postgraduate studies in 'Shalya Tantra' (Surgery), which was presented to him by the Governor Kalraj Mishra.
During times of stress, he seeks guidance from his mentors and finds solace in reading books about Swami Vivekananda. Recalling a friend's advice that "no one can play your role better than you," he regularly self-analyses to contribute positively to the field of Ayurveda.
Discussing his challenges, Dr. Paliwal recounts when he met with an accident just seven days before his AIA PGET exam, resulting in a severe leg injury. Despite the doctor's recommendation for immediate surgery, he postponed it to take the exam. With support from friends and teachers, he overcame physical and mental challenges and also cleared the exam with a good rank.
Reflecting on his accomplishments, he states that he has received many accolades and appreciation for his work. He shares an incident from his time at Parul University, where a successful surgery had unexpected complications. He swiftly referred the patient to another hospital and took care of all necessary procedures. He felt immense joy when the patient thanked him after recovery.
For final-year medical students uncertain about their career paths, Dr. Paliwal advises them to follow their passions and interests. He emphasises the importance of focusing on studies, which will help them become a learned doctor as well as a good teacher. He encourages students to not just wait for vacancies in government hospitals but to start practising or teaching in private institutions to enhance their knowledge and contribute to the field.
Addressing the youth, he advocates for an honest and calm life, recommending meditation to remain optimistic in life.
