Dr. Fateh Singh Bhati is an anesthesiologist and professor at Dr. Sampurnanand Medical College (SNMC), Jodhpur.
Dr. Fateh says that you have to go through the grind in life, and struggles are part of it. He says that in the medical field, there is no limit to the knowledge you can acquire. According to him, there is so much to learn in this world that no one can claim that they have understood everything. But in his field, it is always better to learn as much as you can.
Comparing education and experience, Dr. Fateh thinks experience is also very necessary in his field. He says that when an emergency occurs during surgery, you don't instantly remember what you read in the books, but you instantly recall how you responded in a similar situation in the past. However, he feels education is also very necessary, and you must keep yourself updated with the new developments and discoveries in the field.
As Dr. Fateh reads a lot, he believes books teach us a lot. You learn about so many new things by reading a book on any subject. The events happening in life also teach you a lot, according to Fateh.
Talking about leadership, Dr. Fateh believes leadership is inborn, though we also learn along with time. He feels everyone has their own particular area of expertise, and they can do better work in the area of their choice.
When asked about his free time, Dr. Fateh says that in the medical field, you always have so little free time that it is difficult to maintain hobbies. In his early days, he was interested in music and had learned how to play the flute. He also used to play different sports. But he laments all that is past now.
Dr. Fateh's message for everyone is to do something that will give you satisfaction when you leave this world. Work honestly in your profession and always help others.
