Dipsikha has a background in film writing and a deep interest in the intricate details that go into producing a movie. She is also a teacher in the Department of English in a school.

Dr. Dipsikha Bhagawati is a film critic and a creative writer. She is a PGT in English in a Government Higher Secondary School, Assam.

Dipsikha says that right from her college days she had been doing film critiquing and had a keen interest in writing English poetry. She has written about films and literature for many leading newspapers in the state.

Recalling her childhood, Dipsikha shares that as the first born of three children, she was raised with the utmost love and care. Her interest in films grew after seeing her grandfather, who was a pioneering figure in mobile drama troupes. Dipsikha grew up listening to HMV Records and songs of Assamese genres.

Talking about her educational qualifications, Dipsikha says she is a graduate in English (Honours) following which she did her master's in English literature from North-Eastern Hill University. Pursuing her academic interest further, Dipsikha also completed her PhD in English poetry. She has also taken a course at FTII in Pune that has helped her understand cinema better.

Speaking about her achievements, Dipshika shares that she has translated a book on film appreciation, which was released at the International Film Festival of India in Goa in 2021. She further mentions that the book was also included in the syllabus of film writing in many universities and colleges across the country. Dipshika’s book, ‘"Literature and Film: From Mute to Motion,'' has been published by a publishing company from Delhi.

Dipshika defines success as having the time and encouragement of God to pursue your passion.

When asked about her mistakes, Dipshikha says she believes that one should learn from the mistakes of others rather than from their own.

Sharing a glimpse of her role models, Dipshika says that she draws inspiration from Marlon Brando for his role in the film ‘The Godfather’ and also from the film ‘The Bicycle Thief' directed by Vittorio De Sica. She is also inspired by Bhabendra Nath Saikia , a professor of physics who has made his mark in the film world of Assam. Dipshika regards Pal Dutta as her godfather, who taught her all the nuances behind a film.

When feeling low, Dipshika prefers to spend time alone rather than in the company of others. In such times, she takes inspiration from movies and keeps herself calm and composed.
