Dr. Smita Baheti is a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynecologist, Laparoscopic Surgeon, and Infertility IVF Consultant at GBH American Hospital in Udaipur.
Smita hails from Mandsaur, MP. She completed her education there. She did her MBBS at Lokmanya Tilak Municipal Medical College, Mumbai, and her master's in obstetrics and gynaecology at Gwalior. Then, initially, she joined as a consultant at Monilek Hospital in Jaipur. Following this, she worked at Geetanjali Medical College, Udaipur, as an Associate Professor. Furthermore, to stay updated, she underwent a fellowship in Laparoscopic Surgery and IVF at a reputed institute.
Smita’s role model is her father, as she was inspired by her father's desire to become a doctor and accomplish his goal. In the second stage of her life, she considers her husband to be her role model. She also draws inspiration from everyone she meets.
Smita’s success mantra is to keep working hard, have patience, and follow your dreams.
Advising aspirants in her field, Smita says that to become a successful doctor, there is no shortcut. One should be a hard worker, dedicated, and patient. Determination and sincerity are essential in this profession. Along with it, thorough subject knowledge is very important to administer the correct treatment to patients.
Sharing her COVID experiences, Smita says that she is not only a doctor but also a mother. She made every effort to ensure that no one in her family contracted the sickness. She followed all the guidelines and precautions while treating patients during the COVID-19 pandemic. Few of her patients were COVID-positive. She performed the required surgery on them, following all the precautions, like wearing a PPE kit during surgery. On a personal note, she believes that this pandemic has taught us to be self-reliant. She believes that she has fulfilled her professional, personal, and social responsibilities.
In her spare time, Smita likes to play badminton, as she has been a sportsperson since childhood.
Comparing education and experience, Smita says that both are important. She believes that education will help you become more experienced, and experience will further define your education. Education and experience go hand in hand.
According to Smita, no one is a born leader. She believes that the only way to become a leader is to gain experience. Everyone learns from experience and performance-based work by facing numerous challenges along the way.
