As an Associate Professor of English, Dr. Aparna is putting in her best efforts to pass her knowledge down to her students to make them better citizens and thus create a better nation.

Dr. Aparna Sharma is an Associate Professor and the Head of the Department of English at BN University, Udaipur.

Dr. Aparna was born and raised in Udaipur. She studied at St. Mary’s School. Her father was a doctor and her mother was a lecturer of English who both encouraged her to study.

Aparna says that she joined BN University in 1997 as a Faculty in the Department of English. And since then she has been working with the university.

Aparna has always considered her late mother, her role model. She says that because of her blessings only she has been able to reach where she is today.

Aparna thinks that Education is the biggest weapon by which a society can be changed for the better.

In her spare time, she loves listening to music and spending time with her family. She says that she inherited her love for Music from her mother.

Talking about tough times in her life, Aparna says that the untimely demise of her mother left her emotionally devastated. But she says that her father and her sisters were always there by her side and they always kept her motivated.

Talking about Covid, Aparna says that the pandemic wreaked havoc on our lives. Besides, she says that due to the pandemic, she had to resort to the online mode of teaching which she thinks is not as effective as in-person teaching. However, as per the need of the situation, she had to resort to this mode of teaching. Furthermore, she says that she was down with the virus which caused more emotional than physical damage to her. However, keeping a positive attitude helped her beat the tough time.

Aparna thinks that she has had leadership qualities since the beginning. She says that she was awarded the All-round Best Student Award in her high school which is a testament to her leadership abilities. Her leadership style is to strike a fine balance between being stern and being friendly to teach her students.

Aparna thinks that due to the pandemic, students have become complacent and are not taking their studies seriously. Therefore, she advises them to work harder to gain more and more knowledge as this phase is temporary. Besides, she advises them that instead of blaming the country and their surroundings, they should endeavor to be the change that they wish to see in the world.
