Dr. Anju aspired to become a doctor but could not do it. She entered the education field and has an experience of twenty-five years in the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry.

Dr. Anju Goyal is an Assistant Professor and HOD of the Department of Pharmaceutical Quality Assurance and Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry at BN College of Pharmacy, Udaipur. She has been serving BN University for the last twenty-four years.

Dr. Anju belongs to Kota, Rajasthan. Due to her father’s government job, she traveled and lived in many cities across the country and that’s why she also studied in different schools in multiple cities. After completing her schooling from Indore, she did B.Pharm and M.Pharm in Pharmaceutical Chemistry from SGSITS College in Indore. Then she started her career with Raju Memorial College, Jodhpur, where she worked for two years and then switched to BN University and is working there till date.

Talking about her struggles, Dr. Anju says that she faced some challenges while living in the hostel after 12th because for the first time she was living alone away from home. Besides this, she worked hard to qualify GATE and hence did M.Pharm on scholarship.

Dr. Anju considers her teacher Dr. Piyush Trivedi, as her role model for he has achieved a lot of success in his life and he possesses good leadership quality, intellectual level and professional conduct.

During the Covid pandemic, in the initial days, Dr. Anju faced quite a few challenges adapting to online methods of teaching as for the last twenty-five years she had become quite comfortable with the old-fashioned teaching method. But her children helped her in shifting to the online platforms. Slowly she coped up with the process and got used to it. She says there exists a slight connectivity problem with children living in remote areas, otherwise she finds this method more efficient and effective. On a personal front, she enjoyed the period of the first wave spending time with family and cooking new dishes. During the second wave, like everyone she was also afraid of all the commotion happening around. But she feels that this pandemic has given us the biggest lesson of life.

Dr. Anju believes that today’s generation have a very high IQ level but she feels disappointed that they are not using it properly and even if they are using it, it is in the wrong places. So she advises them to give at least 50% of their time to academics and education so that they will be able to do a lot in life. And if every child spends their mind and time on their talent, then they will be able to achieve big things in life.

According to Dr. Anju, it is very important to have a balance of both, Education and Experience. Because if a child is only good at studies, then they cannot do anything going forward and if they are only practical in life and have no interest in studies, then also they can do nothing in life. Further she says that the things that a child experiences and learns from their day-to-day life, can never be learned from books.

If Dr. Anju gets a chance to go back in time, then she would like to change our education system to the old Gurukul system. Secondly, her dream was always to become a doctor, which could not be fulfilled due to her father’s regular transfers. So she would like to fulfill this dream of hers.

When asked about Leadership, Dr. Anju says that although some children inherit this quality, it takes time and experience to develop leadership skills and qualities.
