Dr. Amrita Chaurasia is a Professor at Christ University in Ghaziabad. She has been working in the field of teaching and research for the past fifteen years.
Amrita was born and brought up in Indore. Although she is from Uttar Pradesh, her grandfather moved to Indore many years ago, and her father was also born in Indore. Her entire education took place in Indore. She received her MBA from the Prestige Institute of Management And Research in Indore.
Amrita says it had always been her dream to work with premier institutes, and her dream came true when she was given the opportunity to work with IIM-Indore. She has also worked with many well-known institutes, including Symbiosis Institute, Lal Bahadur Institute, Institute of Management Studies, and many others.
Remembering her childhood memories, Amrita recalls how her younger brother always treated her as if he were her elder brother. She recalls a time when she was learning to drive and lost control, severely damaging the car, but her brother still took all the blame on himself and saved her.
The best part of her job, Amrita says, is the students' reaction, and their attachment to her as a teacher. She thinks that when students exhibit so much energy during your lecture, it is the faculty's responsibility to maintain an equal level of energy. This faculty-student bond is the best part of her job, and it always inspires her to give her all in educational research.
When asked which is more important, education or experience, Amrita says that both are important in their own way. She says that education is the basis of experience. However, if we also gain experience in the related field, the value of both is increased.
Talking about leadership, Amrita says that she inherited her leadership skills from her business-owning family but has developed them over time. She thinks that experience is a prerequisite for leadership.
Sharing her COVID experience, Amrita says that the pandemic has changed the whole world. She says that earlier she used to think a lot about the future, but that the pandemic, when everything abruptly came to a standstill, was proof that a Supreme Power exists. She says that since she has begun to put more emphasis on today, she believes that if we take care of today, tomorrow will follow suit. She goes on to say that the pandemic has taught us another lesson that we have been studying since we were children: prevention is better than cure.
If she gets a chance to go back in time through a time machine, Amrita would like to restart her career as an industrialist. She says that she has always wanted to set up an industry whose products would be helpful to people and improve their lives, and if she gets a time machine, she would like to fulfill this dream.
In her spare time, Amrita likes to do yoga and watch web series.
Amrita advises those who want to become professors that they must first look at the core subject of their interest. She believes in the Japanese word "Ikigai" which refers to a passion that gives value and joy to life., For better opportunities in the teaching and research fields, she advises obtaining a PhD.
