An experienced cardiologist and director of a hospital, Dr. Amit has dedicated himself to providing exceptional care to his patients. With a background marked by hard work, dedication, and family support, Amit emphasizes the importance of education and experience in the medical field.

Dr. Amit Khandelwal is a well-known Cardiologist who currently holds the position of Director and Head of the Department at Paras Healthcare Hospital in Udaipur. He has been a resident of Udaipur for the past thirteen years and previously dedicated a decade to his service at GBH American Hospital before joining the Paras Healthcare team.

Born and brought up in Kota, Dr. Amit hails from a middle-class family and completed his schooling at the Modern School in Kota. His life has been marked by challenges, including the loss of his father at the tender age of eight. His mother, who was just thirty years old at the time, took over his father's job at RIICO to support the family. He holds immense gratitude for her dedication and sacrifice.

Motivated by his mother's dream and inspired by a TV show called 'Lifeline' which he watched during his school days, he harbored a passion to become a dedicated doctor.

Dr. Amit says that he was a  diligent student from his school days, and passed both the AIPMT and Rajasthan PMT at his first attempt. Opting to study in Udaipur through the Rajasthan PMT, he pursued his MD in the same city. He later gained valuable experience by working at top corporate hospitals such as the Fortis Hospital and the MAX Hospital in Delhi. He also got the first rank  in the Kolkata(West Bengal)  DM entrance examination.

When asked about his role models, Amit says that his role models include three women—his mother, his younger sister, and his wife—who have supported him in various ways, along with his dedicated teachers.

Explaining the importance of education versus experience, Dr. Amit says he believes that one must remain a student all through his life. Education is crucial, but experience is equally valuable as it facilitates continuous learning.

Sharing his achievements, Amit says that he takes immense pride in being a competent and honest doctor to his patients. He cherishes the opportunity to represent his clinical cases at international platforms, apart from attending numerous national conferences. He also says that the field of cardiology has witnessed significant technological advancements, which he considers favorable.

Discussing the significance of leadership, Dr. Amit emphasizes that it is an attitude crucial to life. He adds that despite confronting challenging situations and having to make tough decisions throughout his journey, he perceives such moments as sources of motivation.

With a genuine concern for public health, he urges people to adopt healthy habits, including a balanced diet, stress management, no alcohol or smoking, regular exercise, and adequate sleep. Even 30 minutes of walking can reduce the risk of heart diseases, says Dr. Amit.

Even if given a time machine to go into his past and change something, Amit would choose to travel the same path he has followed since childhood.

When free, he enjoys playing cricket and badminton, indulging in trekking and traveling worldwide. He has a fondness for music, both listening and singing.

Addressing aspiring doctors, Dr. Amit underscores the significance of passion and commitment, advising against entering the medical field solely for monetary gains. He regards medicine as a noble profession, emphasizing that the well-being of patients should be the top priority for a doctor, even before family responsibilities.
