Treat your failures as stepping stones
Divya Kaveriappa is the Director of Vervve Institute of Aviation in Bangalore.
Divya studied Engineering due to peer pressure and the will of her parents, but her heart was up in the sky. In one instance, she saw an ad for cabin crew training for Indian Airlines and started preparing for it. During her last year of Engineering, she focused more on preparing herself for the airline test and interview.
Divya passed all the rounds for Indian Airlines except the last one due to half a kilogram of excess body weight. She felt disheartened about being rejected, but her will to fulfil her dreams was strong enough to lead her to Air India. She qualified all the rounds and realised her dreams with confidence and enthusiasm.
Divya moved to Mumbai to pursue a career in Aviation and through AirIndia she saw the world. Later, due to personal reasons, she quit the job and moved back to Bangalore.
Divya realised that if she can fulfil her dreams of flying in the sky without any relevant background, she can support many aspirants in fulfilling their dreams. Therefore, she started training students in Aviation and Cabin Crew work. Divya worked with the Frankfinn Institute for four years and trained more than eight lakh students. The training helped her change and reform herself as a person too. Later, she worked at a few other institutes before quitting to open her own academy for Aviation and Cabin Crew training.
Divya established the Vervve Institute of Aviation and has trained almost three hundred satisfied and happy students. She feels accomplished when she meets her students at the airport or when her students help her with anything at the airport.
Divya’s journey has not been an easy one, as she shares. Balancing her career and family has been a tough job. She looks up to Dr Gurraj Karki and Mr Divakar Goel for seeing her potential in her and motivating her to start her venture. Moreover, Divya’s parents and her husband have been the pillars of support for her in every endeavour.
Divya advises young minds to dream, set concrete goals, be hopeful, treat their failures as a stepping stone, and invest sincere efforts in achieving those dreams.
Divya believes that hard work and determination have been her Success Mantra. Moreover, achieving confidence is her self-motivation.
During free time, Divya reads and upgrades her Aviation knowledge, spends time with her kids, catches up with her friends, does yoga, and goes for a walk or run.
