Unfazed by a life-changing accident, Dinesh never lost his will to work and become successful in life. He is successfully running his shipping and trading business and says that life always has something good for you and you should accept it with your hands open.

Dinesh Murlidhar Kalva hails from Ahmedabad. He is the owner of a Shipping and Trading Business situated in Gandhidham.

Dinesh spent his childhood at his maternal grandmother’s place and completed his primary education in Gandhidham, Kutch. Thereafter he shifted to Ahmedabad for his further education.

Recalling his childhood memories, Dinesh says that when he was just five years old, he lost his mother and the family had to face struggles after that. He used to learn electrical rewinding work at his maternal uncle’s shop and  aimed to become a mechanical or electrical engineer. However, he could not score well in his higher secondary education and could not get admission to engineering as a result.

Dinesh says that when he could not get admission in engineering, he opened his electric repair workshop along with doing his studies. After working in the workshop for five years, he was still not that satisfied with the work, and that was the time when his maternal uncle offered him the opportunity of managing a shipping and trading business in Gandhidham.

Speaking about his interest and overall journey in the field, Dinesh says that when he came to Gandhidham for the shipping business, he did not have any knowledge about the field. However, he always had the passion to put in his full potential and worked for almost eighteen hours a day. He says that the shipping business had much technical work to do and that is what he liked the most. He explored the field thoroughly and even went on a business tour to Europe, Greece, and Italy and expanded his business in those countries.

Regarding his mistakes, Dinesh says that he used to visit the world's largest shipbreaking yard regularly to find shipping-related spare parts.  Once, when he went to the yard, his wife was three months pregnant. He says that he met with an accident while returning back and got an injury in the spinal cord and came to know that he would not be able to walk in his lifetime. He considers going to the yard that day as his mistake. However, he says that he transformed into a much better and more mature individual after the accident.

Talking about his role models, Dinesh says that his mother is his role model. He says that he is inspired by his mother a lot and feels that whatever he is doing, his mother is watching him and blessing him from up there.  His wife and his children are also his strength.

Dinesh informs that Praful Shah – Mumbai’s renowned writer and journalist has written a book covering his life story in 2019.

Sharing his life mantra, Dinesh says that he closely follows a line that is “Accept whatever life gives you regardless of the fact that you expected it or not.”
