Always driven by an interest in Journalism since his childhood, Dileep kept striving towards becoming one. Today, he is working with one of the oldest and prestigious newspaper groups.

Dileep Chandan is a Journalist. He is the editor at Asam Bani. He has been in this field for the last 37 years.

Dileep hails from Guwahati, Assam.

Recalling his childhood, Dileep says that he completed his schooling at Barama Higher Secondary School. Thereafter, he graduated in English literature from Cotton College, Assam. He says that he was lucky enough to spend his childhood in a rural setting where he enjoyed playing with his friends. From his childhood, he was inclined towards journalism, although it was not a lucrative field at the time. After completing college, he decided to pursue journalism as a career.

Sharing his journey, Dileep says that choosing the path of journalism was not an easy one, but he overcame all the difficulties with the support of his friends and family. He believes that if someone wants to pursue journalism, they must stick with it; struggles will be inevitable, but success will definitely come to them.

Talking about his mistakes, Dileep says that he got the opportunity to work in mainland India, but he wanted to work for the people of his own region and thus stayed in Guwahati. Although he doesn't regret it, he says that this was his own choice.

Talking about his achievements, Dileep says that he started from the grass-roots level as a reporter and gradually moved up the ladder. He had the opportunity to work with national media and has also worked for Ananda Bazar Patrika. He says that he has been working for Asam Bani for the last 25 years, and that it has been his biggest accomplishment to date as it has helped him to explore his interests such as writing, etc. He has traveled to many places in and outside India for his work.

When asked about his role models, Dileep mentions his childhood guru, Dr. Dharanidhar Das. He says that he learned from different people about various things during his journey in journalism.

In his spare time, Dileep likes to visit his native place and spend time with his family and friends.

To attain mental peace, Dileep likes to spend some time in nature, which helps him relax.

Dileep’s life mantra is to do his work with perfection, and knowing that he is contributing to society makes him keep going.
