Having given his services in academia, Dheeraj feels that the implementation of theoretical knowledge is a must to excel in any field.

Dheeraj Soni is the Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering at SS College of Engineering since 2015. He started his career journey at Arya College of Engineering & IT, Jaipur and worked there for a year. He also worked for Pacific College of Engineering as Head of the Department and Assistant Professor for five years before joining SS College of Engineering. Dheeraj completed his B.Tech from Geetanjali Institute of Technical Studies and M.Tech from College of Technology and Engineering, Udaipur.He comes from Chhoti Sadri, a small village in the district of Chittorgarh and completed his schooling there.

Dheeraj shares that his institute has signed an MOU with Baba Automobile Pvt. Ltd. facilitating students in training of engines of luxury cars like Audi, Mercedes and BMW. Talking about the importance of skill development, he shares that laboratories have been created at SS College to make students job-ready and skilled as per market demand. The institute keeps students engaged in projects so that they learn teamwork, project management and building cost-effective techniques.

Talking about the prospects in engineering, Dheeraj shares that every branch of engineering- Mechanical, Mining, Computer Science, Electrical and Civil has its own weightage and scope with Mechanical engineering being the mother branch having immense opportunities in Automobiles, Computer-Aided Design, production and maintenance.

Dheeraj urges the youth not to depend on shortcuts, but to focus on training methods and channelize their hard work in the right direction. He says that no matter how your childhood was, if one can utilize their youth and work hard during that period, then the returns will be highly favourable.

Dheeraj considers his parents as his role models, especially his father who went through a struggling phase to provide Dheeraj and his siblings the education they deserve. He also draws his inspiration from his teachers and even learns from kids and students as well.

Discussing leadership, Dheeraj shares that if you happen to lead a team, it is important to work with them to get the tasks done instead of just acting like a boss and not being participative. He believes a leader himself should work as one of the members.

If he could go back in a time machine, he would like to revisit his childhood which was full of fun and laughter.
