Dheeraj became a hotelier by chance but remained a hotelier by choice and grew his business as well.

Dheeraj Doshi is the owner of Darshan Group of Hotels. He has three hotels under his group.

Dheeraj hails from Udaipur. He did his schooling at St. Paul’s Sr. Sec. School. He then pursued his graduation at University College of Science, and his PG at University College of Law. Then he joined the business field as he came from a family of businessmen.

Talking about his hotel business, Dheeraj says that it was relatively easy entering the business field due to his business background. He says that his grandfather wanted to build a hospital but since there was no doctor in his family, they turned the bundling they had constructed into a hotel. He says that his family is into the jewellery business, so he learned the hotel business along the way by himself.

Sharing about the struggles he faced in his hotel business, Dheeraj says that two constant challenges in the hotel industry are off-season and lack of employees, and one  recent challenge was that of the pandemic. He believes that to overcome the challenges of lack of employees, he treats them as family members. Talking about the pandemic, he says that people have coped up with it well and he is hopeful for the future.

Speaking of his role models, Dheeraj says that his grandfather is his biggest role model who always motivated him to study well. He also takes inspiration from one of his teachers from his school. He says that some of his friends/colleagues who supported him in his endeavours are also his role models.

Advising budding hoteliers, Dheeraj says that you should promote your culture through your hotel business. He thinks that one should deliver good services and increase the personal touch with guests that has been lost due to technology. He also wishes that the government would promote the hotel industry more.

Given a time machine to revisit his past and change something, Dheeraj would like to pass the opportunity as he is content with his life.

Comparing education and experience, Dheeraj says that although education is important in life, it is worthless without experience.

Sharing his COVID experience, Dheeraj says that he likes to remember the positives of it. He continues to say that it brought people closer and gave people strength to face tough times.

In his free time, Dheeraj likes to read books, improve his business by looking for new ideas, do internet surfing, and help other hoteliers.
