A Tent Decoration business owner, Dharmesh Navlakha is also aiming to diversify his business by stepping into real estate by constructing residential villas and marriage gardens.

Dharmesh Navlakha is the owner of Shreenath Tent and Decorators in Udaipur. Since 1983, he has been doing this business.

Born and raised in Udaipur, Dharmesh completed his education here itself. In 1983, he came into the business of Tent Decoration.

Dharmesh shares that initially, he started the business along with a partner, but later due to some reasons, he assumed full control of the business and owned it wholly. In his business, he has done tent decoration for various big clients such as Miraj Group, etc.

Dharmesh says that he has faced a lot of struggles and challenges in stabilizing his business. He worked day in and day out. Often he had to stay away from his home in other cities due to his work. In 2014, his entire godown caught fire and he incurred huge financial losses. But he worked hard and with the help of his network and connections, he bounced back.

He shares that his father taught him a business lesson that never borrow from anyone and never lend to anyone. He acknowledges that because of his father only he has been able to do his business.

Dharmesh says that tent decoration is a very practical job. He laments that new entrants to this business, plan and design it on a computer and think that the job is done. He advises them to learn the practical aspects of the business first and then work.

Dharmesh says education is important but in the tent decoration business, experience matters more. He says he never did any course or degree in Event Management. Only with his hard work he gained experience in the business and kept progressing.

Dharmesh thinks that leadership is about working with people.

He shares that the Covid pandemic impacted all the businesses and his business was no exception. He too faced financial losses. But he has no complaints about it as he thinks it was nature’s decision.

He tries to follow in his father’s footsteps and indulge in religious activities.

In his spare time, he likes to buy and sell lands and construct buildings. He aspires to construct villas as his construction project and also wants to build marriage gardens.

Dharmesh says his family has always been supportive of him. When he was hospitalized due to the fire at his godown, his family was there by his side all the time.
