Dharm Prakash Gupta is in the field of travel and tourism. He started this business from scratch, leaving his family business of ayurvedic medicines to pursue something of his own.

Dharm Prakash Gupta is the owner of GVW Rent-a-Car taxi services in Udaipur.

Dharm says that several generations of his family were in the business of Ayurvedic medicines and that is why he decided to bring some innovation and change in his life.

In 1989, he got into the tourism industry and started working at the Laxmi Niwas Palace Hotel. However, doing a job did not interest him and he started his own taxi service. Today, his taxis are hired by companies like TCS, LG, the Department of Tourism, the Archeological Department, and many more.

Talking about his struggles, Dharm says that initially, they did not have a fleet of cars and were doing business with 2-3 cars only. So, in cases of an accident or unavailability of drivers, he had to face much hardship and even drive taxis himself.

Talking about his role models, he says that Ratan Tata is his inspiration. Tata is a true industrialist according to Dharm.

Dharm says that till 1990, tourism was the second most important industry in Udaipur and today it fetches bread and butter for 70 percent of the people. He feels that people with a passion for traveling should only join this field.
